Sometimes I wake up and I'm the happiest girl in the world all smiling and ready to tackle the day, and other times I just want to stay in bed all day. Well, today is one of those days. I feel absolutely horrible for some reason. Jason left around 6 yesterday after dinner and I had fallen asleep on the floor writing around 7:30. I turned over in my bed to look at my clock which read 4:15. Damn I thought. Time to get up and get dressed for school. I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I showered and changed into shorts and a black tank top and threw a purple plaid button down shirt over the tank top. I stood in front of the mirror as I fishtail braided my hair contemplating whether I should leave the button down open or not. I decided to leave it open and I rolled the cuffs up. I sighed in satisfaction grabbing my backpack from the corner and heading downstairs. I quietly made my way barefoot through the house. Dad had already left for work. I shivered when I felt a breeze hit me as the air conditioning kicked on. I quickly grabbed my black converse and slipped them on. I had already slid on one shoe and successfully tied it before I realized I forgot to put on socks. I cursed under my breath running back through the hallway. I skipped up stairs as I made my way to my bedroom. I grabbed a pair of black socks and started towards the door when I heard a loud buzzing noise. I saw a faint glow on my desk and walked over to it. It was my phone, Well thank god I didn't forget that I thought. Going a day without music is like going a year without eating. I know, huge exaggeration but hey, I love my music. I unlocked my phone and saw that Jason had texted me. I smiled remembering how much fun we had yesterday.
From: Jason
Message: Morning blue eyes! Hope you slept well. Need a ride to school?
I sighed happily. He was so sweet. I usually just rode the bus to school. Yeah yeah laugh all you want I know I'm 17 and still don't have my license. After what happened to my mom I got really apprehensive about driving. It took me about a full year before I even got in another car after the accident happened. I walked back down stairs as I typed.
To: Jason
Message: Morning(: Actually? A ride would be awesome, are you sure you don't mind?
I didn't want him going out of his way just for me. I quickly made myself a bowl of cereal to eat while I went over my Science study guide. It was finals week this week and then Friday is our last day until summer. Thank god. Only one more year in that hell hole before I get to leave. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing school, there's just too many assholes there. Too many horny jocks and slutty girls. I only had a handful of people who I would actually miss. Most of them I would stay in touch with. My phone vibrated loudly on the table cutting my concentration off of the future and right back to Jason.
From: Jason
Message: It's no big deal! What time?
I thought for a moment. I don't want him to pick me up too early cause that would make it seem like I'm desperate and just want time with him. Well..of course that's what I want! But I don't be all clingy. I considered the fact that school starts at 7:20am.
To: Jason
Message: Does 6:15 work?
I riskily sent the message. That was an hour and 5 minutes before school started, but what could I do now I already sent it.
I cleaned up my dishes and glanced at the clock which read 5:00am . I wonder if he always is up this early. My thoughts were cut off my my phone yet again vibrating.
From: Jason
Message: I can pick you up now and we can go get a quick bite to eat, or knowing you you already ate so we can just go get something to drink then head to school if you'd like?
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. He wanted to see me...? I thought. I paced slowly around the kitchen as I typed.
To: Jason
Message: You know me so well(; I would love that.
I sent the text and put my study guide back in my binder and ran upstairs yet again. I checked myself over in the mirror. I lightly sprayed over my body with perfume being cautious not to put on too much. I didn't want to suffocate the poor guy. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and read his text out loud.
From: Jason
Message: I'll be over in 5.
I gasped. 5 minutes. Oh my god do I look okay?! I shook my head. Snap out of it Scarlet it's just Jason. It's just another day. I went back downstairs and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I checked myself one last time before I prepared myself to see him. I paced around the living room for what seemed like forever when he rang the doorbell. My heart stopped. I breathed in deeply and glanced at the clock. 5:17am. I opened the door and smiled. "Hey Blue eyes ready for school?" He said happily. My heart jumped at the sound of his voice.
"Yeah I am! Ready to get all these damn finals over with." I replied locking the front door. I followed behind him as he walked to his car.
"All I have are finals today and tomorrow and then I'm technically done." He said opening up the passenger door and motioning me to get in. I smiled and mumbled a quick 'thank you'.
"You lucky!" I said once he got in the car. I had forgotten he was a year older than me, graduating on Saturday.
"Yeah, scary thought." He laughed. I sighed, oh my god his laugh is so perfect. I mentally scolded myself and turned towards him as he continued. "I just have my English and Science final today and tomorrow then I don't even have to come into school for the rest of the week. So we could probably do this every morning if you wanted?"
"Oh you really don't have to do that! You get to sleep in silly!"
He shrugged and said "I'd rather be talking to you." Good thing it was still dark outside cause I could feel my face getting hotter and hotter by the second. Before I could even reply he stopped the car and said "We're here!" He quickly got out of the car and ran over to my side to open up the door. "Thank you" I said smiling.
He led me into a small coffee shop that I must have passed a million times but never actually stopped in. We sat down in a small booth and a waitress came over and smiled way to brightly for being up this early. "What would you two kids like?" Jason looked at me then said "2 hot chocolates please." She looked at us funny then nodded and walked away mumbling under her breath. How did he know I loved hot chocolate...? I thought to myself. "You uh..told me at the party.." His face turning red I finally realized what he meant. "Aw that's cute" I said smiling.
We sat there and talked and talked. I had no idea a boy could make me laugh so much. Even when the waitress came and went several times we just went right back to talking. I glanced at the clock at the same time he did. It read 6:45 "Damn time flies with you." He said reading my mind. He went to the cash register to pay as I quickly followed saying "Wait I'll pay for mine!" He shook his head and said "Absolutely not! I'm paying" He slid his $5 bill to the cashier and smiled in satisfaction. I sighed. "Fine then I'm paying next time."
He laughed walking out the door saying "Whatever blue eyes" He opened the car door for me yet again. I smiled and thanked him once again. The drive to school went by way to fast for my liking. When we got to school he opened the car door for me one last time. I grabbed my back pack and slung it around my shoulders. We walked into school together continuing our conversation from the car. "Good luck on your finals today" He said smiling down at me. I laughed a little and said "Thanks, I'm going to need it! You too!" "Text me after school? Maybe I can drive you home or we can hang out and study or whatever?" He said. I nodded and said "I will do that." He hugged me tightly and just like that he was off to his first class. I sighed walking towards my first class. The minutes couldn't go by fast enough. I couldn't keep him off my mind. He was just my friend. I can't ruin this amazing friendship with my feelings.
A/N: I'm really really happy with this chapter. Thank you guys for reading this. It really means a lot to me. I hope your Winter is going well. I know I'm ready for Spring and Summer. Bring on the shorts baby! I'll update soon!
