I quickly walked down the stairs and passed dad on my way to the laundry. I skimmed through the newly washed clothes. Giving up, I decided to grab them all and find out what looks cutest.
"What in the world are you doing...?" My dad asked with a questioning look on his face. "Jason told me to meet him in the park at nine!" I replied smiling like an idiot. He sighed happily and paused for a moment. "You better be home by 11:30 missy!"
"I will make sure of it daddy!" I kissed his cheek and trudged up the stairs with the mound of clothes in my hands, doing everything I could not to trip. I laid the clothes out on my bed and immediately eliminated the sweat pants and hoodies. Even though it's always relatively warm here in Florida, sometimes it's nice to just curl up in a hoodie and pj pants.
After about an hour of modeling and trying things on I had finally narrowed it down to a teal blue high low dress. I picked out a pair of matching teal ballet flats and took a quick shower. I fish tail braided my hair to the side and finished it off with a white flower clip. I smiled in satisfaction and glanced at the clock.
8:38pm
It'll take me about a 15 minute walk to get to the park. I hadn't ever drove in my life. When mom was killed driving late at night driving I vowed I would never drive. How I managed to pull that off, I had still yet to think of. I wonder if Jason was being serious about teaching me to drive. I had just never had the desire to drive one after the accident. I sighed and walked down the stairs into the kitchen.
I took a quick swig of a glass of water then heard my dad's footsteps walking down the hallway. He whistled when he caught sight of me in a dress. "Wow! You're absolutely beautiful baby girl..." I blushed and played with the hem of my dress. "Thank you" I mumbled. I glanced at the clock which read 8:43. and grabbed my phone from the counter.
"I should get going." I said breaking the silence, walking towards the hall. "You have fun for me okay?" he tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and kissed my cheek. "Just for you." I replied and then winked which caused him to chuckle. "I'll see you at 11:30." and with that I walked out the door.
I walked down the street towards the park and my dress flowed in the wind slightly. Is it bad to say I felt like a princess? I can't help it. I'm not really the dressy girly type. Okay I take that back, I totally am but I hide it. Why? I'm not really sure..but it feels good to feel pretty for once. Once I could just barely see the park my phone vibrated and lit up with Jason's name. Butterflies erupted in my stomach as I read the text
Nice color choice, it suits you very well.
I gasped to myself. How on earth could he see me? I walked a little quicker towards the park and once I got close enough I could see Jason just barely.
He was sitting in the middle of a picnic blanket wearing jeans and a button down shirt open, showing off his white shirt. Candles were scattered on the blanket and a single basket was set in the middle. An acoustic guitar sat in his hands and he gestured for me to walk closer.
My mouth was obviously open by now my hand covering it and my eyes wide. He started strumming the chords to a familiar tune. "You look absolutely stunning Scarlet, just like always." Before I could even respond to his compliment he continued. "Blue eyes come here." He motioned for me to sit next to him while he cleared his throat. I smiled and gently sat down. He looked a little nervous as he started strumming chords again. I gasped just as he started singing.
You know I'd fall apart without you
I don't know how you do what you do
'Cause everything that don't make sense about me
