I stood in front of the small Pokémon in shock, dropping Decidueye's pokeball to the ground with a clatter. I was completely frozen solid, nothing but stuttering coming from my lips.
"Min!" The small grassy green Pokémon cried nonchalantly, unaware of my shock. Instead of preparing to fight me, it walked over and started nuzzling its face against my leg. I stood perfectly still, unsure of what I should do next. Do I catch it?
As if on cue, a quick ball fell out of my bag and sucked the small Pokémon in. I watched in total shock as the ball shook 3 times, a successful clicking noise indicating that the Pokémon was mine-- I didn't even have to fight it. I booted up the rotomdex, as I usually got basic information from it whenever I caught a new Pokémon. Instead, it functioned like normal, acting like I never even caught the Pokémon in the first place.
"(Y/N)!" A familiar shrill voice yelled, calling for my attention. I turned around and saw Lillie racing towards me, hanging her head over as she was out of breath. "I told you to wait for me!"
"S-sorry, I was just fighting wild Pokémon while I was waiting," I explained truthfully. "Anyways, we should get going."
---
"Go!"
In unison, Lillie and I both played the moon and sun flutes respectively. I was too focused on my playing to notice the rift forming in the sky, as if someone had cut it with a knife. Suddenly, we watched as Nebby escaped Lillie's bag and turned into Solgaleo, eliciting a mighty roar. The lion stood in front of us valiantly, its blue eyes gleaming.
"Nebby!" Lillie screamed, running towards the large Pokémon. I followed her wordlessly, watching as she fearlessly gave the legendary a warm hug.
"You... we need you to take us to see mom..." Lillie pleaded, the Pokémon understanding. Together, we climbed on its back and went through the rift, clinging on tightly as we were enveloped into nothingness.
We were suddenly in some sort of different dimension, one with many UB-01 floating around. Lillie and I climbed off of the Pokémon and looked around, the emptiness of the dimension haunting me. We both turned and saw a winding path behind us, which we decided to trek. At the end of it we saw Lusamine sitting alone, turned away from us.
"You," Lusamine muttered cryptically. "How dare you come disturb me at my place of happiness. Especially after what you did to me."
"Stop that," I barked angrily. "It's time to go home, Lusamine."
"Hahahaha, as if you'd think I would go home," she snickered. She suddenly turned to face us, an eerie expression on her face. "You pathetic girl! Trying to remove me from my precious beasts! You make me laugh!"
"Mom, please!" Lillie begged.
"DON'T CALL ME MOM!" Lusamine yelled, UB-01 swarming her. "Come on, Nihilego!" Lillie and I could only watch in horror as she was swallowed up by one in some sort of explosive reaction. She threw out a pokeball, her Clefable ready to strike us. I called out my go-to Decidueye, and the battle begun.
While it was a fairly even fight, I couldn't admit that she wasn't a difficult opponent. When I would faint one of her Pokémon, she'd faint mine the next turn. This happened until we were both down to our last Pokémon; her Mismagius, and my mystery Pokémon that I caught in the field before.
"I-I don't know what to do," I muttered as tears streamed down my cheeks. I was down to one last Pokémon that I hadn't even used before. Using a mind of its own, the hedgehog pounced up and scratched the Mismagius, it obviously injured greatly. With its last string of life, the Mismagius used Destiny Bond. Both fainted together, thus defeating Lusamine. The woman began to quiver and she immediately dissociated from the ultra beast.
"Mom!" Lillie cried, rushing to her mother's side. I watched with a smile as I fell to my knees, keeling over. It felt like I was dying, like I was being stabbed by a thousand swords. Was this what it was like to lose? No, it had to be something else.
"Lillie," I murmured. "Take her and Guzma out of here on Solgaleo's back. Please."
"What?! Why can't you do it?!" She exclaimed, dumbstruck.
"I-I can't move," I stuttered weakly. "You have to go on without me."
"Stop being ridiculous!" She yelled, rushing to my side. Unfortunately, I couldn't and wouldn't move an inch. "There's no way I'm leaving here without you!"
"Lillie, I'll find a way back out," I lied. "Come on, please?"
"Ok," the girl agreed. "I'll come back for you after I make sure mom is ok!"
"Good," I smiled, hearing soft voices and a loud roar before the silence came back. As soon as they were gone, I could finally move again. I slumped over against the cavern wall, my breathing shallow. Hundreds- no, thousands of Nihilego floated overhead, letting out very faint cries. Was I going to be trapped here forever?
"(Y/N)!" A familiar voice screamed, pulling me out of my thought. I don't know how much time had passed, but it felt like only an instant after Lillie left. The blonde that I was all too familiar with stood in front of me, an angry expression on his face. "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? WHY DIDN'T YOU GO WITH LILLIE?"
"Help," I stammered faintly, unable to move again. I wasn't sure why or how Gladion got here, but I was sure glad he did. I tried to move with all of my strength, though I was frozen solid. "I can't move, Gladion."
"Babe, it's ok," he assured me. I felt him scoop me up in his arms, carrying me with ease. The lion Pokémon stood at the end of the cavern, looking worn from the dimensional travel he had been through. Gladion held me on his lap as the Pokémon leapt through the wormhole once more.
