"(Y/N)! Are you ok?!"
My eyes fluttered open, and I was greeted by the starry night sky. Hau, Gladion, and Lillie loomed over me, confused and worried looks on their faces. I slowly sat up, but was immediately knocked over again by Lillie tackling me into a tight hug. "Goodness, you're ok!"
"What happened?" I asked brazenly, Gladion helping me up to my feet.
"Well, when we were in the beast zone, you froze up and couldn't move," Gladion explained. "It was probably due to the toxins that the ultra beasts possess. They're also probably still in your bloodstream, though. Hopefully it was a one-time thing, but it's highly possible something like that could happen to you again."
"O-oh," I sighed, staring down at my feet.
"Don't worry about it, (Y/N)!" Hau exclaimed happily as he put his hands behind his head. "You're ok! Guzma is ok! Lusamine is ok! You still have to finish your trials and challenge the league, don't you?"
"Yeah!" I exclaimed happily. Suddenly, I noticed a large white mass out of the corner of my eye. Solgaleo stood at the altar nearby, as if he was waiting for something. The others noticed my staring and nodded, as if to tell me I needed to train him. "I'll talk to you guys after this."
With the click of my master ball, I had caught the legendary guardian of the sun. I ran to pick up the ball, trying to come up with a nickname to give the Pokémon.
"I think I'll call him Nebby," I smiled, turning to Lillie. Her eyes widened in shock, her cheeks tinged pink as she nodded vigorously. The others began to descend the staircase after congratulating me, only Gladion and I sticking around.
"Why did you come and save me?" I asked the blonde nervously.
"Why wouldn't I?" He smirked. "You needed my help, and there was no way I'd leave you there after all we've been through together. No one else was up to the task, either. Not even Kukui. I volunteered in an instant."
"Thank you," I whimpered, tears forming at the corners of my eyes. "So, so much. For everything. For always being there. I'm not sure why you still put up with me-"
"Hey," Gladion interjected, suddenly grabbing my hand. It fit perfectly in his, despite being quite smaller. His hand was warm and soft, and I felt instantly calmer. "There's no need to thank me, babe. You're safe, and that's all that matters."
"You're just a nice guy," I sighed. "You're just saying that. You'd do this for anyone."
"Stop that," he ordered. "Remember when we first met? I wanted nothing to do with you. You know I wouldn't do that kind of stuff for just anyone. You're special, and you're different."
"How am I different from anyone else?" I asked, tears now streaming down my face. Gladion furrowed his brow and pulled me into a tight embrace, the master ball in my hand clattering to the ground. Nebby sprung out, not making a single sound. I observed the sky around us, the stars perfectly visible from atop the mountain.
"Listen," Gladion breathed, suddenly pulling away from me. "I do these things for you because I care about you. I guess you could say..."
"I love you," I finished. Gladion was caught off guard by my words, his emerald eyes widening. "Gladion, I love you."
"Well," he smirked, his face inching closer to mine. Our lips were a few inches away, his voice dropping down to a whisper. I felt the warmth of his breath, and I could clearly hear the sound of his heartbeat. "You took the words right out of my mouth. I love you too."
"LA-LIONAAAA!" Solagaleo roared, pouncing around the alter. Gladion promptly let go of me, and together we watched in awe as the deity bounced around majestically. After a few minutes, I picked up the master ball and called him back in.
"Get in the bag, Nebby," I chuckled to myself as I put the pokeball into my bag. Gladion chuckled softly at my remark. I turned to face him again, this time with a smile.
"I think that was a sign to wait on that," he laughed as he grabbed my hand again. "Let's go meet up with the others, shall we?"
"Wait!" I exclaimed. I rummaged through my bag to find the quick ball which contained the mysterious Pokémon I caught earlier.
"Remember that flower you gave me? Well, I found this in the grass when I was training up! What is it?"
I tossed the ball and the hedgehog popped out, chirping happily as it dashed around. Gladion's expression stiffened, obviously shocked by the small creature.
"That's Shaymin," he explained. "A legendary Pokémon native to the flower fields deep in Sinnoh. How... did you find it...?"
"A legendary? From a faraway region!?" I echoed. "I'm not sure! It hopped out while I was training!"
"Someone must have put it there," he explained. "That's the only possible reason why. Its trainer must have released it."
"But wait, the flowers on its head match this one," I added as I pulled the papery pink flower from my bag. Gladion's pupils narrowed in shock.
"It must have came to you," he explained. "All the way from Sinnoh. How, or why, I'm not sure. But that's the only possible reason why you found it."
"Really?!" I exclaimed as I extended my arms out to the Pokémon. It hopped in them, letting out a small happy cry. It rubbed its nose against the flower gleefully. Suddenly, it began to glow, and Gladion and I watched in surprise.
The Pokémon lept out of my arms, though not hitting the ground. It changed into a more dog-like Pokémon, a red scarf around its neck. And it was flying.
"What?!" I yelled, completely taken aback by the current events. "What is that?"
"Shaymin sky forme," he explained. "Legend has it only a few people have ever seen it."
I smile at him as I called the Pokémon back to its ball. "Add us to that few!"
"You're really something else," he smiled as he grabbed my hand again. Together, we descended down the stone staircase, running off to meet with the others.
