For about a week after Gladion and I got into our argument, I stayed over at the Aether Foundation with him. The staff joked around about me being his "bodyguard", considering how I never left his side most of the time. I slept next to him every night, spending my days researching and wandering around Alola.

When I visited Malie City one faithful day, I noticed some obscure decorations in the street. Curious, I asked the café barista while enjoying a cup of my standard Tapu Cocoa.

"Eh? You don't know about the summer festival?" The older man asked, a look of shock upon his weary face. "Malie has a yearly festival to commemorate the beginning of the Alolan summer. Plenty of people from all over Alola attend."

"I just moved here!" I yelled, though I was not too serious. After finishing my drink, I stepped outside the center to prepare to fly back home. Instead, I ran into a familiar face, who as smiling warmly at me.

"(Y/n)!!!" A voice unmistakably belonging to Hau called, and I turned to find the boy waving happily to me. He ran in close to me, a wide smile plastered on his face.

"You're coming to the festival tonight, right?!" He asked merrily. I nodded, unable to form any words. "Do you have a yukata picked picked out? You're gonna need one!"

"What's that?" I asked curiously.

"A yukata is like a summer kimono. They were first created in Johto, which is where the people who founded this city came from," he explained, suddenly pointing at the nearby apparel shop. "They should have them there. I can't want to see how you look tonight!"

"T-thanks," I stammered with a skittish look on my face.

"Wait, before you go," he added one final time. "Can you see if Gladion will come too? I miss him!"

"Of course!" I exclaimed nervously, my eyes wide as I gave Hau one final wave before entering the store. How was I going to ask Gladion to come? Did he even own a yukata? Nervously, I turned away from the boy and entered the apparel shop, the familiar atmosphere seeming slightly different. Racks of yukatas lined the walls, and I immediately jumped in to try to find one.

After a few fruitless minutes, I came across a(n) (f/c) one which was in just my size. I eagerly stepped up to the mirror and held it up to me, nodding as I went into the dressing room to try it on.

After making my satisfied purchase, I figured I should head back to the Aether foundation and notify Gladion about the event. I flew there on charizard, making my landing on the same white dock as always.

When I arrived, Gladion was nowhere to be seen. I asked around, and scoured every room, but no one seemed to know the boy's whereabouts. There was no way for me to contact him, either. Slightly upset, I concluded there was nothing I could do but go to the festival myself. I waited until evening and then changed into my yukata, hopping on Charizard to fly back to the city.

The city was bustling with people, seemingly hailing from all over Alola. Everyone was suited in dress similar to mine, so I knew that I had made the right decision to buy a yukata. Lanterns hung overhead, and various stalls bloomed both sides of the streets. Some advertised different games or merchandise, while others sold food and drink. I scanned the scene nervously, looking out for any familiar faces. In the meantime, a few passerby were mumbling some comments to me.

"You're the champion, right?"

"You look stunning!"

"Look, mom, the champion!"

"She looks so grown up for a 15 year old!"

For the most part, I had tuned these comments out. Once I reached the end of the street, I noticed a familiar face waving to me.

"Hau!" I yelled excitedly, sprinting in the direction of the boy. Standing at his sides were Mallow, Lana, and Kiawe, who all bore smiles on their faces. I gave Hau a brief hug and joined their conversation.

"Hey, (y/n), where's Gladion?" Hau finally asked after a few minutes, a disappointed frown on his face. I felt myself tense up nervously, unsure of how to respond. What if I didn't look hard enough.

"I'm right here," a voice behind me stated. I turned around and saw the boy standing behind me with a small smirk, his arms folded in front of him. He too wore a black yukata, so it was evident that he knew about the festival. After processing the situation, I immediately lept into his arms.

"You asshole!" I shouted as I peppered his cheeks and neck with light kisses. "I searched everywhere for you! You don't even understand!"

"Hey, it's ok, (y/n)," he responded. "I was busy,  and I'm sorry for that, but I'm here right now for you. My employees told me about you looking for me, so I assumed this is where you went. Let's enjoy ourselves for now."

"O-okay!"

Gladion and I walked up and down the streets hand-in-hand, eating various foods and playing games. As the sky grow darker, it became evident that fireworks were going to be lit off soon. Gladion took my hand and pulled me to the coast by the factory, where the two of us stood alone.

"(Y/n), I love you," he stated with a tiny smile. "But I think we should go somewhere else. Travel a little. There are tons of other regions out there, and I want to go and see them with you."

"Yeah!" I exclaimed, visions of the future filling my imagination. "But what about my role as champion?"

"Kukui could fill your place," he offered. "He said he would want to.

Pop. A red firework exploded outward in the air. I turned to face Gladion, his face illuminated by the red explosion. They picked up in intensity, a wide variety of colors reflected on his face. I kiss them all, finally ending up to kissing his lips. He held me tightly in his arms until the explosions ceded, even then not letting go.

"Let's do it," I murmured. "I'll go anywhere as long as it's with you."
