"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!"
I awoke with a jolt, my eyes flickering open. While I had tried to sit up, I was still in Gladion's warm embrace, so I didn't get very far. Hau stood at the doorway of my room with his jaw nearly to the floor in shock.
"Mmph.." Gladion moaned, still asleep despite Hau's shout. I felt my cheeks tingle at the little noise he made, but I quickly snapped out of it.
"Hau, it's not what it looks like!" I whisper-shouted, trying not to wake Gladion up. "Go back to bed! We can discuss this later!"
"ITS 10 AM," Hau bellowed. "AND I THINK IT IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!"
"No!" I responded, raising my voice ever so slightly. "Go away!"
"GLADION WAKE UP!" Hau screamed, and I felt the arms wrap around me retract almost instantly. Gladion's eyelids slowly rose, revealing his two glittery green eyes. He let out a deep breath before noticing my concerned expression. "Hm? Are you ok?"
"IT LOOKS LIKE YOU TWO ARE MORE THAN JUST OK," Hau screeched at a pitch way too high for a 15 year old boy. He crossed his arms in front of his black t-shirt and furrowed his brow.
"No, Hau," Gladion snarled as he sat up next to me. "(Y/n) was having bad nightmares last night, so I came here to comfort her."
"Oh," Hau stated bluntly, reverting to his usual carefree self in a heartbeat. "Why didn't you tell me to come too?"
"Uh..." Gladion mumbled, obviously trying to come up with someone off the top of his head. For a 15 year old boy, Hau was incredibly gullible. "You were asleep."
"Don't be afraid to wake me up next time!" Hau grinned, Gladion and I shooting each other a very confused look before Hau slammed the door and dashed away.
"Yeesh," Gladion scoffed as he rubbed the temples of his head, "That kid gave me a real headache."
"I-I'm sorry he woke you up," I murmured, gingerly putting my hand on his back.
"Not your fault," replied Gladion, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I'd go through a lot more confrontations like that if it meant that I got to spend time with you."
"Ah," I whimpered, my face turning tomato red. He shot me a devious grin after noticing my embarrassment.
"You're so cute when you're flustered," He murmured as he slowly eased himself off the bed. "I promise you that we will have plenty more times like this later. But for now, (y/n), you should focus on getting Lusamine and Guzma back, as well as completing your island challenge."
"R-right," I agreed as I stumbled to stand up next to him. He began to run his fingers through my hair, tilting my chin up slightly so I could see the warm smile on his face. "Let's get headed to the docks. You need to go to Poni island, don't you?"
"Mhm," I murmured as I slung my melon slice bag over my shoulder. I quickly unzipped it, making sure that I had all of my Pokémon and items. Once I shut it again, Gladion grabbed my hand and guided me out of the room.
"You only have a small amount of your island challenge left," he stated, trying to divert my attention to the events of yesterday and last night. "Do you know what you're gonna do when you finish it?"
"Not really," I sighed. "I don't even know what happens when I complete them all."
"You'll find out soon enough," he assured me as the docks of the Aether foundation came into view. Lillie and Hau stood there as well, though Lillie was dressed in an entirely new outfit.
"You look lovely," I complimented, watching the blonde's face flush bright pink.
"T-thank you, (y/n)," she tried her best to regain her composure, as there was clearly something she wanted to tell me. "I figured out how we can get mom and Guzma back. We have to gather the sun flute and the moon flute, then play them in unison in order to summon the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo."
"We can do it," I assured her. "As long as we go together, Lillie. I'm not worried-- I believe in us."
"Oh," Gladion said suddenly. "I'm going to have to stay here for now, (y/n). Is that ok?"
"Yes, of course," I smiled. "Come find me later, ok?"
"Of course I will," He assured me, an Aether foundation employee opening the boat up for us to board. I quickly have Gladion a tight hug before climbing on the boat with my two friends.
As we took off, I made sure to wave at him until he was out of sight. Hau handed Lillie and I each a malasada, and we ate them in relative silence. The hum of the boat our only background noise, Lillie then began to explain to me what exactly we had to do in order to get Lusamine back. I listened intently, trying my best to memorize every detail.
Suddenly, the boat came to a halt, and the employee from before opened the door for us. In front of us was a sunny town of boats, quite unlike any other city I had seen in Alola yet. I muttered a quick "thank you" before getting off with my two friends.
After healing up and exploring the town, I realized I had a little bit of down time before Lillie and I were going to head off to Exeggutor Island. I headed to the nearby route, entering the tall grass to fight off some wild Pokémon.
All of a sudden, I noticed a strange Pokémon emon leap out at me. Unlike other Alolan Pokémon, it had a muted pink flower on both sides of its face. It was very tiny, but somehow familiar. Suddenly, I reached into my bag and pulled out the flower that Gladion gave me.
It matched.
