((Am I even a good writer lol help))

"Well, (Y/N)," the professor smiled at me, his eyes gleaming through his goggles. He flew out to the alter to come check on us, completely ecstatic that we were able to defeat Lusamine.  "There's nothing left for you to do except for challenge the Pokémon league. It's at the top of Mount Lanakila, which is on Ula'Ula Island."

"I'll get headed there right now," I smiled at him. Seeming content with my words, he ushered Lillie and Hau to follow him back to the nearby city. I turned to Gladion, who was the only one who hung around.

"I guess this is goodbye," I sighed, the boy's narrow eyes darkening.

"God, (y/n)," he scoffed. "Do you really think I'm gonna let you go?"

"Huh?" I asked brazenly, a small smirk tugging at his lips.

"I wasn't done," he giggled mischievously. "You're not going without me."

"Oh! Yeah!" I exclaimed, feigning comprehension.

"I'm gonna walk you up the island," he explained. "I'll fly down afterward. I don't want you to go alone, it's probably really cold."

"T-thank you," I stammered, my cheeks growing hot. "Wanna ride to Tapu Village on Charizard?"

"Well duh," he scoffed. I opened my bag and found my ride gear, proceeding to change into it. Gladion looked on in confusion.

"What is that ridiculous outfit?" He asked in bewilderment.

"Oh, this?" I turned to him as I fastened the strap of my helmet. "It's my ride gear. Don't you have some of your own? You need it to use a ride Pokémon."

"I... well, no..." Gladion murmured in embarrassment. I chuckled warmly, rummaging through my bag.

"I have a spare helmet and set of pads you can borrow," I offered. "Unfortunately, I don't have the hot pink bodysuit for you. Sorry!"

"Thanks," he responded as he took the pads and helmet from me. "I don't want the bodysuit anyways. I'll just appreciate how it looks on you."

"Creep!" I yelled, noticing his narrow smirk as he fastened the pads on his elbows. I grabbed the ride pager from my bag, and a Charizard swooped in front of us with the click of a button. I climbed atop it, patting the spot behind me to signal for him to get on. "I'll have to steer, considering you've never even used a ride Pokémon before."

"I-I don't know about this," he stammered, a sudden anxiety in his voice. Was he really afraid of heights? "I don't trust you to steer that thing."

"Hey! It has feelings, you know!" I exclaimed, feeding a pokebean to the Charizard. "I'll even drive slow. Are you coming?"

"Gh, ok," he scoffed, inching towards the dragon at a painfully slow speed. Once he finally climbed on behind me, I ushered for the Pokémon to fly.

"Slow down!" He yelled as the fire type dragon picked up a few feet off the ground. I suddenly felt his arms wrap around me, his entire body trembling. Why was such a tough guy so afraid of flying? I giggled softly as I ushered for the Charizard to fly even faster. "I SAID STOP!"

"It's completely safe, you idiot," I laughed as the land below us turned into water. Ula'Ula was on the complete other side of Alola, so we had to fly quickly to make it there. Once we finally landed, I noticed that Gladion's face was a sickly green.

"Remind me.. to never do that again..." he murmured as he braced himself on the wall of the Pokémon center. I merely laughed at him.

"What's the matter? Is Gladion, the big bad tough guy, afraid of heights?" I erupted into laughter. He began to glare at me, punching the wall.

"So what if I am?" He retorted coldly. "Just drop it, (y/n). Let's go heal our Pokémon."

We walked in together, him standing to the side as I handed the round-faced nurse my Pokémon. Once it was his turn, I walked over to the store and bought out as many max potions, revives, and full heals I could afford. I then walked to the cafe, at which Gladion promptly joined me.

"Let me buy you a drink," he offered. I nodded and sat down, telling him I wanted my standard Tapu Cocoa. When the barista finished it, he walked over daintily and placed it in front of me.

"Thank ya!" I grinned, Gladion still ticked off at me. I noticed his harsh from soften slightly at my words, but it was quickly hidden by him taking a sip of his Komala Coffee. He silently placed a packaged biscuit in front of me, and I put it into my bag without a word.

"You still mad?" I asked, a sudden guilt pulsating through me.

"A little," he sighed. "though I can't stay mad at you for too long."

"You're a lot softer than you look," I observed out loud.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing."

"I'm a total tough guy! I'm a Team Skull enforcer! What do you mean, 'soft'?"

"I'm just saying, you act all tough, but you've got a really nice heart," I giggled. "Don't get so defensive, it's a compliment."

"God, you annoy me sometimes," he mumbled.

"It's because I love you, doofus," I exclaimed happily. The blonde flushed bright pink, still lit used to hearing those words from me.

"I love you too," he mumbled softly, his hands covering his mouth. "The only reason why I'm soft around you is because I care about you so much."

"It's adorable! Don't feel bad!" I yelled.

"Whatever you say, idiot." We both finished our drinks and stepped outside, preparing to brave the mountain ahead of us. No matter what was ahead of us, I knew that it would be easy to face with him by my side.
