"Oh, ummm.."
My throat closed up, and I pulled my phone from my ear and checked the phone screen to assure that I was not being pranked. Sadly, to my absolute misery, the word 'Mike' floated on my screen. I put the phone back to my ear to confess that there had been a mistake, but he spoke up before I could squeeze out a word.
"You called at a nice time, actually. I was really bored." He responded, and the deepness of his voice sent chills down my spine, much to embarrassment.
"I can hear music in the background, though." I replied instead of ending the call, my curiosity peaking. He chuckled dryly and then heaved a sigh.
"I'm forced to be at parties sometimes," He said in a bored tone, to which I just merely nodded -- not that he could see me. As the sweat on my forehead began to form, I realised that I needed to make a phone call for a job, yet here I was, sitting on the phone with the famous boy. "So why are you calling me, Brownie?" The cheekiness in his voice was audible even through the phone.
"I actually called you by accident, if you must know." I admitted, not wanting to fuel his ego. I'm sure he had enough, being famously attractive and the luscious lifestyle he lead.
"So how do you click 'Noel Michaels' instead of 'BrightlyEvents Management' on accident?" He mused, clearly trying to hold in laughter. I rolled my eyes and rolled over to lie on my stomach on my bed, my legs in the air.
"Not that it's any of your business, but I have you contact saved under 'Mike' and their contact under 'Manager', so it's quite easy to mix up." I retorted to him frankly. He scoffed as though he didn't find my excuse plausible.
"Mike? Why can't you just save it under 'Noel?"
"Because I don't want my crazy roommate, or anyone, seeing your name flash up on my phone. I don't want your fame to cause drama in my perfectly normal life."
"That's a smart move, Brownie. Sometimes I wish I could just not be famous, and go back to the good old days." He admitted, his voice dropping an octave and suddenly void of any humour. I blinked, for a moment glad that I could be in the comfort of my room as I pleased.
"I should, um, apologise, for the commotion I caused in the tabloids for hanging out with you at the club. If I'd known you were famous.." I cut myself off from speaking, suddenly embarrassed that I'd admitted that I was completely unaware of who he was. To my surprise, he actually laughed at that instead becoming offended.
"No, no, I'm used to the tabloids making up rumours from everything. It was a refreshing experience for me, to not be instantly recognised and mobbed." He admitted, which actually did work to make me feel better. I was about to reply when my door was rudely barged open.
"Who are you talking to?" Cassidy interrogated with squinted eyes, a bowl of ice cream in her hand that was clearly for me. Upon seeing her, I quickly sat up, suddenly nervous figure out who I was actually talking to. I cleared my throat.
"A... friend." I responded carefully, still very aware of Noel's presence on the other end of the line. He had heard me, evidenced by his timely chuckle.
"We're friends then?" Noel asked me, to which I just grumbled into the speaker in a piggish manner. Cassidy was even more confused, but didn't bother further asking me anything. She left my room after giving me the bowl of ice cream, much to my pleasure. I dug in immediately, the cookies & cream flavour instantly making me happy.
"So what's the party for?" I asked, deciding to keep the conversation flowing instead of doing the mature thing and taking a job interview m.
