Chapter Two

"You know her?" Naguguluhang tanong ni Mr. Villafuerte. Palipat-lipat ang kanyang tingin sa aming dalawa.

I cleared my throat. He was related to this guy? Was he the cousin he's talking about?

"I think I met her somewhere." Malamig na sagot ni Clifford Tyler. I saw how his eyes dimmed by just looking at me.

"Oh? That's good, then. I hope you'll work with each other accordingly since you already knew each other." Malaki ang ngiting pinakita sa akin ni Mr. Villafuerte. Wala akong magawa kundi gantihan iyon sa abot ng makakaya ko.

He tapped Clifford's shoulder before diverting his eyes to the other businessmen.

"So, I'll leave you both to each other. I need to talk to some people." Tumango siya sa pinsan at tumingin sa akin bago naglakad palayo.

I suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"I... I better get going." Iyon lamang ang sinabi ko sa kanya. I turned my back to him at lumabas sa gitna ng napakaraming tao.

Nang makaabot ako sa elevator ay doon ko lang napagtanto na kanina ko pa pala pinipigil ang hininga ko. Halos tumambol ang puso ko sa kaba.

I pushed the down button. Pakiramdam ko'y napakatagal umakyat nito.

Nang bumukas sa wakas ay nakahinga ako ng maluwag. I went inside and pushed the stop button. The door was about to finally close when a hand stopped it. Bumukas itong muli at bumungad sa harap ko si Clifford Tyler. His eyes showed no mercy.

I cursed at myself. I should have taken the stairs!

"You really think you can escape again?" His voice as cold as ice. Umatras ako sa loob.

He went inside too. May pinindot siya at talagang sumara ang pintuan. I suddenly felt dizzy.

"What do you want from me?" Tanong ko rito. Why did he even follow me?

What happened between us was supposed to stay in that small island! Doon lang dapat iyon at hindi na kailangang pang umabot dito!

"How can you say that after what happened, huh?" Mapanuya niyang tanong sa akin. He went near me and I found myself cornerned.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Salita ko. I couldn't urge myself to look him in the eye. Pakiramdam ko'y kapag nangyari iyon ay may mangyayaring masama.

But when his hand held my chin up, I felt something woke inside me. Tila napapaso ako sa kanyang pagkakahawak.

"And now you're playing innocent. You can't even look me in the eye." He whispered. His hot breath fanned my face.

Naisin ko mang umatras pa ay hindi ko na magawa. The cold wall was already touching my back!

"You didn't tell me goodbye the last time we were together. How can you just leave me after that night?" Mariing tanong niya.

"I was drunk and you took advantage of that!" Sambit ko. Nakita ko ang munting pagtaas ng gilid ng kanyang labi.

"We both know we wanted it to happen. Don't try and deny it yourself."

I felt him drawing closer to me. Ang isang braso niya ay humarang sa pader upang ikulong ako. There was no escape!

"It's good to see you again." Salita niya.

Our nose touched and I swore I felt the burning electricity that coursed through my whole body.

"Tyler..."
