"Goodbye, Mystic Falls," Beth said under her breath as the truck continued to drive away from her small town.
"I'm sorry," Stefan said quietly.
"It's okay," she said turning to look at him with a bittersweet smile playing on her lips.

It had been a very long summer for the strawberry blonde but it was coming to an end, unfortunately that didn't mean she could go back home, only meant that the heat would start to go away. It wasn't really Klaus' company that bothered her, it was just everything that she had had to see and the screams that she's held back.
She had spent the whole summer avoiding the topic that both Stefan and Klaus tried to talk about many times. But immortality isn't exactly an easy topic to avoid and Beth now knew that very well, but of course it didn't stop of her from trying. "Thank you, guys. Really. For trying to talk to me and trying to make me feel better. But I feel fine. You really don't need to," Beth said smiling from the back seat of the truck while looking at the two men in the front seats.
"Fine. If you say so," Stefan told her, dropping the subject.
"We're here," Klaus said as he pulled into a hotel. Stefan was the first to get out, and was quick to go to the lobby while the other two followed behind.
"Why don't you want to talk about it?" Klaus asked interrupting the silence that had once surrounded them.
"I'm just fine. I don't need to talk about it," Beth lied.
"Please, you're avoiding the subject, like the plague," the hybrid scoffed.
"No. I'm not."
"You're lying, not even you believe that."
"I-I just can't! Okay!" Beth exclaimed, "I can't. Talking about it... makes it too real. I'm not ready for that."
"You're not ready to accept what you've lost," Klaus added softly.
"No, I'm not. I wanted a family, kids, and something tells me that I'm not going to be able to, will I?" Beth asked and while her voice showed no signs of hope, a small gleam in her eyes showed a speck of hope that she would be wrong.
But of course, she wasn't, and when the Original Hybrid shook his head, it only confirmed it. "No, I'm sorry."
"Don't be. It's not your fault," Beth said forcing a smile.
"You've also gained, you know? You've gained years to travel, and to spread all your happiness throughout the world," Klaus chuckled. "To inspire everyone you meet, like you've done, before."
Beth chuckled before her smile faltered a bit and with a sigh, she said, "I guess, it's real now."

Unfortunately, for the strawberry blonde, they had only stopped to shower, change, and grab some food, for Beth it was a meal from room service, and for the men, it was whoever brought it, before they all got on the road again. Even though she was a banshee, she, unlike the two, did need sleep.
