I sat at the table across from my brother and our mother between us at the end of the table. We were eating grilled cheese and chips for supper. My brother ate like a pig, does he not eat at school? I eat all the time or when I want to. Usually I just snack on something here or there. The whole dinner table was quiet until Gage decided to bring something up. I dropped my food and our mother left the dinning room table.

"You're really going?" I asked. He nodded, he didn't seem so happy anymore now that our mom left upset.

"Yeah, it's where I belong. I want to play hockey and that's where I can get a scholarship. I better one, Bella. Maybe you could join someday." He told me. He earned a new scholarship to anew school during the next semester over in California.

"Is that all?" I asked, he shook his head. "Let me guess, you found yourself a girl?" He nodded. I knew there was more then reason as to why he was going over there.

"Don't tell mom, she'll never let me go if she figures out it's because a girl I fell in love with is also going over there." I nodded. I won't tell anyone, this is why you just don't fall in love. It screws you up, that's my personal opinion. But for others, it's their whole life put into one.

"I won't tell her... Does your girl live here?" I asked. He nodded and pulled out his wallet, showing me a picture of the two of them at a hockey game together. It was his hockey game though. Same place my parents met. My parents kissed for the first time at a hockey arena, so did Gage and now it's just me turn in the future to. If I ever want to share my life with someone else.

"Yeah, she lives on the other side of town. Her and I have plans to watch your hockey game in three days."

"Really? You're gonna watch us play?!" I asked. Man, this could be my time to shine and show him how much better I've gotten. With his and Coach's help, I wouldn't be where I am today. I'd still be in the sucky district-5 team not even being close to the playoffs. This was the dream of most of us on the hockey team, especially Charlie. He's always wanted to go to the playoffs and now he is. He's in finals with all his friends.

"Well, yeah. I gotta see you guys play. If you made it to finals then you're obviously really good players." I nodded.

"We are. We're getting a new kid, though."

"Who?"

"Adam Banks, heard of him?"

"I have, he's a great kid. Great player too." He was right about the great player. But I am not too sure about the great kid. He's a rich boy joining a team of kids that don't have much money. Only enough to keep ourselves rolling.

Mom didn't come back yet. I don't know where she went. But she hasn't laid a finger on met yet since Gage has been here. But boy am I excited! He's going to watch me play! My team compete against the best one in pee-wees. I just want to crush their butts and win for good. Prove to others that we're not just trouble maker kids. I knew she wouldn't lay a finger on me, I even reassured the guys that she wouldn't touch me. As long as Gage was here, then I am fine and safe. But once he leaves, it'll return to a living hell for me.

"So?" He started. I looked up from my plate of food and looked at him. I gave him a confused look. "Anyone on the team you've got eyes for?" I almost choked on a patato chip when he said that. He started laughing at me and I laughed with him, I was laughing because of the fact that I almost choked on chips. But he was laughing because of how I reacted.

"No and why would I? That would disconcentrate me while I play if I liked any of them."

"Yeah right, look at me. That's a great excuse, Bella." I huffed and went back to eating my plate of food. He started eating our mother's food since she wasn't here and I don't think she'll be here anyways.
