Charlie's POV

"Hey Averman, let's do another prank. Got any ideas?" Peter asked. I walked with him, Averman, Karp, Guy and Goldberg down the road. We were headed to who knows where and doing who knows what. But something caught my eye, it was Bella sitting by the skating arena with her bag next to her. She was alone, but it looked like she was crying. I should go and see her, even though she might not want to see me. That's what friends are for.

"Hey, I'll catch up with you guys later." I said, they nodded and we all parted ways. Good thing too, Goldberg farted and it smelt horrible. I walked over to Bella and sat next to her. She didn't hear me nor did she see me since her head is buried in her knees. I sat there for a little, I didn't really know what to do to help her.

After awhile of suffering of listening to her sob. I had to ask what was wrong with her. So I did, but she didn't lift her head up, she spoke with her head in her knees. I couldn't quite understand since it came out as muffles and more tears. I haven't seen in her awhile and I don't know what's been on her mind lately. I've been fine, hanging with the guys having a good time.

"Bella? You know you can tell me anything, right? Even right now? I know you and I haven't been on the same page lately, but I'm here now and I am willing to listen and help you out." She sniffed but didn't bring her head up. I couldn't see her beautiful blue eyes, I only saw her brown flowy hair draped over her shoulders.

"I know, Charlie." She sighed, what did I do now? "Things are different now. A lot of things are."

"Wanna talk about it, I won't tell anyone?" She nodded, but still didn't lift her head up. I assume there is something she isn't telling me or she's hiding something big from us all.

"Don't you hate it when someone tells you that you can't do something because you're not suppose or aren't good enough?" Who told her that? I know it wasn't any of the guys, they'd never say anything like that.

"Who told you you weren't good enough at something?" I asked.

"My mother. She's changed Charlie. She kept nagging and nagging the other day about how girls like me are suppose to have a boyfriend, hang out with girls and do this and that. But I am not that! She told me how good Gage was at hockey and how he got a sholarship and I didn't and that how next year I can move schools and maybe get a scholarship. But she's so annoying, Charlie and I can't handle it anymore." She took her hands off her kneese and placed them on her head and craddled herself back and forth.

"I thought you lived with your dad? Why were you around her?"

"Because, Charlie, I had to. I was on my way to practice on monday when she came and picked me up from school and forcing me to not go to practice. Then started saying all those things to me. Apparently my dad was gone, when really all she wanted was to see me. Which ended up being a complete disaster!"

"Calm down, Bella. We'll figure things out. Is your dad still out of town or whatever?" She nodded. "Come to my place tonight." She shook her head and was about to get up when I held her back. "You can't just leave in the middle of something. We have to finnish what's been started. I'll be right by your side the whole time."

"I can't, Charlie. It just doesn't work that way. Not everything can be solved so easily and in this case. It won't and I got to learn how to man up when life brings you down. I'll be fine, thanks for the pep talk. You can see your friends now."  She's got to stop pushing us away. But if this is what she needs then I'll give her time and space.

"Will you be at practice tomorrow?"

"I should be." She told me. I let her go and she ran with her hood on her head down the street. Something's really up with her. I watched her leave with her stuff and walk into a house not far from here. Probably her mother's place because that isn't her dad's house. I ran down to the usual alley where the others were and hung out with them.

"Where'd you go, man?" Averman asked.

"I was talking to Bella for awhile before she left." I replied.

"Something's up with her, you know. She didn't show up to last practice and she wasn't at school yesterday or today." Peter said.

"We know, we're not idiots, Peter!" Goldberg said. I heard someone clear their throat.  It was Guy, I laughed a little and talked with them for the little while before I had to leave for the night.
