Madelyn’s POV
“Where are you going?” I asked Justin as he drove towards our house after the appointment.
“Home.” He replied quietly.
“Go to Selena’s. I want to get the kids.”
“We can go get them later.” He said dully.
“Justin! I want to see them! You can’t keep me away from my own kids!” That was all it took for him to turn around and go back to Selena’s. When we got there, I avoided all eye contact with her. I knew she was probably furious about this morning still. I had lied about going home, but in all reality of the matter, I would have gone home eventually. I knew she was just trying to help. And she could see that I needed to see my kids.
“Mommy!” Aniston ran to me when she saw me. “You left!”
“I know, but I’m here now.” I hugged her tight.
Justin’s POV
As Madelyn greeted the kids, Selena pulled me into the kitchen to talk to me.
“How is she now? After she heard the heartbeat?”
“No change. At all. She’s having the surgery.”
“Well, maybe it’s for the better.”
“This could possibly kill that baby, and you think it’s for the better?! How is this any different than an abortion?”
“Justin, it’s different. But just think for a second, if she has this baby, and can’t run because of him or her, do you really think that would be an ideal situation? She’s going to resent it forever.”
“You’re right.” I sighed. There was no other option. I had to let Madelyn have the surgery, but I wasn’t happy about it.
Madelyn’s POV
I was able to avoid talking to Justin for the rest of the night. I kept myself completely absorbed with the kids. We played all night and I did their baths and bedtime routines by myself. I didn’t want to put them to bed, I just wanted to spend forever with them, but they were all tired and in desperate need of sleep.
“Read?” Aniston smiled as she crawled up onto her new big girl bed.
“Alright.” I agreed. I would do anything as long as it delayed the conversation I was about to have with Justin. “Which book tonight?”
“This one!” She reached for the book on her nightstand. I Love You Forever was her favorite. I picked up the book and laid next to her in bed. She curled up next to me, all ready for her story.
“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always. As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.” By the time I finished the book I was practically sobbing. I tried to hold back my tears, but between all of the fighting in the last couple of days and my raging hormones, there was no stopping them.
“Why are you sad, Mommy?” Aniston looked up at me with her big blue eyes.
“I’m not sad, these are happy tears, because I love you so much.” I kissed her head.
“Time to pray!” She clapped her hands. I laughed.
“Okay. God bless,” I started for her.
