Despite the fact that Christmas was fast approaching, Sherlock couldn't bring himself to focus on that fact. He hadn't heard anything from James since the morning of the dance, and he was beginning to worry. Especially with the fact that John will be left in school over the break without any friends there. It would be a perfect time for James to harm him. Sherlock had tried to convince Mycroft to let him stay, but he was adamant that Sherlock join them. John, however, couldn't go home due to the fact that his mum got some time off work and is taking a holiday somewhere warm for the winter.

Between all his panic, he coud hardly focus on his work, which meant he often got in trouble. However, he hardly cared. He was already top of his class, and already knew what he wanted to be after school, and that had nothing to do with wizard learning.

John, meanwhile, was having the time of his life. He was wearing festive jumpers and humming Christmas carols, and helping the prefects (except for Sherlock. He didn't quite understand Christmas) put up the decorations around the castle. Completely unaware of the danger he was in.

"You gonna finish your chicken, Sherlock?" John asked, eyeing Sherlock's plate.

"Uh, no. Go ahead" Sherlock replied without thinking.

Well, he was thinking, as he always was, but not about chicken.

"You know how you're staying here over Christmas?" he inquired.

"Yeah?" John muttered, grabbing Sherlock's chicken.

"Well, as you know, pretty much everyone else you know is going home" Sherlock continued. John looked up at him.

"I'm aware. What of it?" he answered, looking a bit upset at the mention of it.

"Well, my family has quite a big house. Far too many rooms for us... Well, of course I'd have to ask mother, and you'd probably have to ask yours but... Do you want to stay with my family over Christmas?" He finally finished, picking up his water and taking a gulp of it.

Where I can make sure you're okay he mentally added.

John looked at him, flummoxed, then smiled.

"Of course I do, Sherlock. Honestly, I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas" he laughed.

Sherlock breathed a sigh of relief. he had expected John to say yes, but had a moment of doubt.

"Word of warning. My brother's a bit... well, like me." Sherlock started mumbling "and there'll be family there like there is every year and i bet you can imagine what they're like and-"

He was cut off by John kissing him softly. "It'll be great. Thank you" he smiled.

It later occurred to both of them that they had just had their first kiss.

So I have this story back on track, but that means there'll be a few Christmas fillers before the main plot starts up again. So, sorry about that, but hey. Cute Christmas fillers.
