Sherlock took a deep breath as he approached the door. He was hoping that his mother would answer, instead of Mycroft, whousually answered. If Mycroft answered, there'd be awkward eye contact, which of course might make John feel awkward, and then Mycroft would insist on showing his a tour of the house.
"Sherlock? You okay?" John asked quietly, waiting patiently as Sherlock stared at the door.
"Yeah, sorry" He answered, lifting up the door knocker and tapping three times against the heavy, wooden door.
"It's fine. You're nervous, I get it" John smiled, kissing Sherlock on the cheek "I'd be too"
He grabbed John's hand just as the door creaked open and Sherlock's mother stepped out.
"Sherlock!" She cried "you made it! We were beginning to worry, when you said 4:00 and now it's 4:40 so we were wondering"
"Yes. We made it. The train didn't break down halfway here" Sherlock commented, resulting in a small nudge from John, telling him not to sass his mother.
"And you must be John!" She exclaimed, hugging him. John looked at Sherlock, confused. "Sherlock's told us so much about you!"
"What, really?" John laughed slightly, shooting Sherlock with a mock stare.
"Come inside, come inside! Let me take your trunk up to your room!" She offered, grabbing their trunks.
"We're fine, actually. I'm sure we can carry the bags a bit further" John laughed. "Don't worry. We'll make it"
"Yes mother. I'll show John to our room" Sherlock offered. Mrs. Holmes stepped aside to let them through, and Sherlock led John us a staircase and through a narrow hallway to a large room with signs plastered all over the door saying "Keep out" or "experiment in progress. Do Not Disturb" and "Sherlock's room. No Mycrofts" written with child's writing.
"Well, believe it or not, this is my room. I do only have one bed, but there's a spare room just down the hall there. I can show you, but it's your choice" He offered, unsure of what to say.
"I'm fine with whatever. It's easier to just share a room" He smiled, knowing that that's what Sherlock wanted. Sherlock nodded, and pushed open the door.
The room was, for a start, messy. Clothes and papers and books littered the floors, while the table and desk space was cluttered with test tubes and microscopes. The bed was unmade and ragged, despite it's large size, and the windows were closed, creating a hot space, but John didn't mind. In fact, he loved it.
"I hope it's... adequate" Sherlock shuffled around, picking things off the floor. "Of course, I canclean things up, if you want..."
"It's fine, Sherlock" John laughed "Trust me. It's fine"

Hey look! I updated. Another filler chapter! What a surprise :o well anyway, I really don't have a good excuse for not updating, so I suppose I'll just have to remind you that I tend to either do everything at once, or leave days, weeks or even months between them. So forgive me for that, please...
Anyway, I'm enjoying these stupid fluffy christmas and family meeting fillers, but if you want the stroy back on track, honestly just tell me and I'll skip to my next plot point. Don't be afraid to ask me anything.
                              And yeah. Hope you enjoy.
