a/n i'm sorry guys i haven't updated or ages. Last week, i turned my usual "update!!!" alarm off, because i was seeing a movie, and so i forgot and then just kept on forgetting... sorry (it does mean that in two days you get the next chapter so there's less of a wait) but yeah. sorry. I've been busy (holidays and all) so yeah. Sorry again...

also I realised like 400 plot holes in this story because of that one forgotten plot bit in it so uh... yeah... In my defence, I tried...

anyway, to the story...

Molly wasn't talking to Sherlock. In all fairness, Sherlock probably wouldn't be talking to her if she had accused John of being a psychotic murderer who escaped from Azkaban, but the significant difference was that John wasn't a psychotic murderer.

The worst thing was that John was in Gryffindor, and Sherlock wasn't. If he were allowed, Sherlock would make John feel safe every night, and cuddle and kiss him and let him know that they'll never ever be apart. He couldn't though. Students weren't allowed to spend large amounts of time in dormitories that were not their own.

"We need to tell a teacher, Sherlock" John tried again.

"Tell them what?" Sherlock retorted "'oh there must've been a mix up on the school forms because you accidentally let in a psycho kid who not only tried to kill both of us in first year but let in a dangerous beast that almost no-one can kill but he's pretending he's not that kid because his girlfriend likes him' they'll definitely believe that, won't they, John?"

"I don't know! I just know that certain issues need to be addressed. People will die... Again, Sherlock! And whether or not you care doesn't matter! People shouldn't die! We're students and..." He searched for arguments "I know you like Molly, I mean, as a friend! And what! Do you think he's dating her because he thought he'd want a girlfriend. You must know he's chosen her as a victim, of what, I don't know but we can't let him!"

"You think I don't realise any of that, John!? You think I'm sitting here as our world goes to shit and not trying to think about the plans he's making to destroy us? I'm not being an irrational idiot and jumping to conclusions, and I know telling a teacher won't work! He's not an idiot! He'll have a back-up plan and we'll get in trouble!" Sherlock snapped "I know you're scared, and, frankly, I am too, but that doesn't mean we need to lose our heads!"

They stared at each other for a bit, until John bowed his head and apologised.

"I'm sorry too" Sherlock explained "It's just stress and I can't deal with this right now. We need to focus on our OWLS. I'm sorry I yelled. We need to keep our heads. That's what he does. He messes with us, and turns people against each other. We can't let him."
