So I was reading through an old chapter, and I noticed an entire plot point that I forgot about, so I'm going to try and work that in here (so this chapter may be a bit everywhere).
I do apologise if this chapter is literal crap, I just figured I shouldn't have that wasted sub-plot in there.
This chaoter may also be more describing things instead of actual, real talking. It's a tough scene to set, so I need to actually help you guys know what's going on.
John was shaken after the incident with his father (I mean, who wouldn't be), and both him and Sherlock were scared. Not necessarily of his father (because he was just a dick, and they're relatively easy to manage), but more because there was no way he could've known exactly where they were, unless of course, he had an inside agent. This, naturally, made them suspicious of everyone around them. Sherlock didn't talk to Molly for three days just in case, but she seemed fine with it, and instead spent the time with her boyfriend who she'd been dating for ages.
Sherlock had never met him, per se, but from what Molly said, he seemed nice enough. Sherlock just couldn't be bothered meeting him, plus John kept telling him not to be rude, and he knew that he would find something bad about him to blurt out in the middle of it, which would result in Molly crying and running away, and then hating Sherlock and breaking up with Jim. He had no filter.
So naturally, it wasn't exactly a priority to meet Molly's boyfriend.
However, some 3 weeks into the term or something, Sherlock got a letter from Molly, which told him to meet her near the Black Lake, and to take John, so they could have a picnic double date. Sherlock, despite the cheesiness of it, figured that John would probably enjoy it, considering he was quite into that stuff. So, he decided to go.
So that Saturday, just as the clock struck eleven, Sherlock and John set out to go and meet Molly and Jim.
Molly was alreadly sitting there, with a flowere tucked behind her ear, in a pinky-orange floral patterned dress. She did look incredibly pretty, Sherlock thought to himself. Whoever Jim is, he's lucky to have her.
"Hey, Molly," John smiled, sitting down next to her. "This looks great! Wow!"
Sherlock sat down next to him, trying to be nice. John had warned him continuously to be nice to Jim when he met him, and to think before he said anything. In his head, he was repeating a mantra of things to say to him.
                              "Hi, Jim. I'm Sherlock."
                              "It's a nice day, isn't it?"
"I hope we don't get grabbed and strangled by the giant squid."
                              Wait no
For whatever reason, Sherlock couldn't manage to keep on the right train of thought.
"Hey, Sherlock. It's nice and sunny today, isn't it?" Molly asked, pulling out some forks for us.
"Talking about the weather? Wow. You really have no idea what to say," he replied, quickly shutting his mouth after a stern look from John.
Molly sighed, and pulled out napkins.
"Jim should be here in a bit. He got a detention for charming a piece of chalk to write swear words on the blackboard," Molly explained, looking slightly ashamed.
"It's fine, we can wait" John replied.
Molly smiled and looked just past them. "No need to wait. Here he is. Right on time"
Both Sherlock and John turned to see where Molly was looking. Sherlock, expecting to see some weedy, short kid with glasses, braces and acne, was incredibly surprised by what he saw.
                              John was too.
Standing before them was the unforgettable figure of James.

                              Well I tried...
