"Levitation, or making objects fly is a very useful spell. It's not hard once you get it down," chirped Professor Flitwick.
We were currently in charms class and we had been working on the 'swish and flick' movement for a while now.
"Have you all got a feather?" Asked Flitwick.
I had handed them out to the class moments earlier. We lifted our wands up and did the movement following Flitwick's lead.
"Okay, now the moment you've all been waiting for! See if you can levitate your feather,' Flitwick said.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" I said, but no luck.
The feather moved around on the surface of the desk, but that was all.
I looked around the room and it looked like no one had succeeded yet. I saw Hermione trying to help a frustrated Ron.
"Whatever, you try then if it's so easy!" Said Ron impatiently.
Hermione lifted up her wand and spoke "Wingardium Leviosa," along with a perfect wand movement.
Sure enough, her feather rose up quickly into the air. Ron looked ticked off, like really ticked off.
I looked at Seamus next to me as he was attempting the spell. Suddenly, the feather blew up in his face. Harry and I laughed, classic Seamus.
"Well done Miss Granger!" Flitwick said with a bright smile.
"Uh, Seamus's blown his feather up again, sir," Dean said.
"Again?" Flitwick asked.
"What can I say?" Seamus said. "Boom."
After charms, I packed up my things.
"You go ahead Charlene, I have to ask Professor Flitwick a few things," said Hermione.
I nodded and walked out to see Harry, Ron, Seamus, and Dean waiting for me.
"Let's go," said Dean.
I heard Ron talking some trash about Hermione so I kinda tuned out.
"No wonder Charlene's her only friend!" Complained Ron.
I was about to say something to Ron but before I had the chance, Hermione roughly pushed past us. I ran after Hermione, and when I had caught up with her she had tears welling in her eyes.
"Hermione, are you okay?" I asked.
"Please, just go," She said, tears falling down her face.
I thought it would be best if I gave her some space, so I went to my next class which was Transfiguration.
"Is Hermione alright?" Asked Harry in a concerned tone.
"She's really upset. I think what Ron said hit a nerve," I told him.
As this was our last class of the day I decided to go back to the common room assuming Hermione was there. I recited the password and the portrait swung open revealing an empty common room. I went up to the dormitory and no Hermione. I decided to just read in my bed until dinner.
Soon later, I heard a tap at the window. I looked over and saw Harry's owl, Hedwig, sitting on the window sill with a piece of parchment in her beak.
"Hey Hedwig," I said, giving her a little pat.
I opened the window and took the paper from her mouth.
Charlene,
Meet us in the common room.
Ron and Harry.
