"You don't know who he works for do you?" He ask me and I shook me head. He started laughing after I did that. "You thought what I did was bad at one point who he works for is ten time worse then anything you could imagine."
"What do you mean? Who does he work for? There is no way he does anything illegal or anywhere close to what we do." I said to him in disbelief. Vinny was a good kid, I could never imagine him getting caught up in anything like that.
Ricky let out a sigh as he lent against the counter by the sink and he just starred at me. I was getting more frustrated with him with every passing second. He wasn't going to get to say something like that to me without any explanation. We had come way to far for him to start keeping things like this from me. I have gave up so much for him he that he could atleast be honest with me.
"If you're going to keep lying to me you can leave and don't come back till you wan to be honest." I snit as I turned my back to him as I walked out of the room. He wasn't going to get to treat my like this.
"Wait!" Exclaimed and I let out a sigh and turned back around to look at him. I didn't say anything but I lent against the wall and crossed my arms. I was being hostile towards him and that wouldn't change till I heard the answer from him that I wanted.
"Okay, listen. I'll tell you but just know the more you know the more you get yourself wrap up into this. Me not telling you these things is my way of keeping you safe. Some of this shit can get you in a lot of trouble and I don't want to see you getting stuck." He was trying to warn me but I didn't really care. I was already wrap up into all of this so what could be the harm of getting myself deeper. At least then I might understand everything a little bit more.
He waited for me to take in what he just said. I think he was hoping I would change my mind and leave this topic alone. There was no chance of that happening though. He should know me better then that by now.
"Vinny works for a friend of mine. His name is Chris, I've known him for years. We met way before the two of us got into all of this. We started out working together but what he wanted bypassed the whole murder thing by going further and I wasn't into it so we went our separate ways. He ended up meeting his now husband Angelo and the two of them work together.
"The two of them were a strange pair to say the least. They still are if I do say so myself. When they met Ange had no interested in any of this. He wasn't even like you, he was your good old boy next door basically. The more time him and Chris spent together though the more he started to take an interested into his messed up words.
"Chris likes to play twisted games with a lot of his victims. He get a joy from making them think they have a chance at getting out and living even though he knows that won't happen. Think of the Saw series and how by the end it was false hope and death was invaluable.
"He also has his hands in a few drug rings and I think he used to have a part in human trafficking. He liked the money those thing brought in for him but I think he isn't as involved as he used to be. I know he still keeps a few slaves around but that's just for his own personal enjoyment.
"That day you were at my house and that Mike guy showed up was the day I had to go bail him out of jail. He didn't get caught or anything, not like it would matter he is paying certain people in law enforcement to keep himself safe. He got into a fight with someone who was a client of his disrespecting Ange. He's short temper already but when it comes to anyone hurting him he snaps in the blink of an eye.
"I may like the thrill of killing people but none of that stuff ever interested me. I wasn't doing anything for the money. I started my own business to give me that and I find that fulfilling enough." Ricky finished and I looked at him waiting for him to add on. I was getting what his friend did but that didn't answer the question on how Vinny connected to all of this.
We starred at each other for a while and I soon figure out I as going to have to be the one to break the silence. He was waiting for me to have some form of a response to what he's telling me.
"Okay I get what you're friend does but what is Vinny part in all of this?" I ask him flatly, showing no emotion in my voice. I didn't really know how to react in this situation. It's not like there is some social norm that I can follow here anyways. Not like I fit to that social norm anymore anyways.
"Vinny is like an errand boy for him I guess you could say. If Chris needs someone or something brought to him he sends Vinny to do his dirty work. I personally have no clue of they really met but from what I do know Vinny was that one who approached him for work. Going broke can drive anyone mad. It drove him mad enough to trust an man like Chris. Mike also does stuff like that for him but he's a bit crazier then either or us even if you ask me." He finished and everything started to click for me. I don't know if I should feel bad for Vinny since this really wasn't his choice but at least he is getting some form of financial security form this.
"Do you still talk to him?" I ask him slowly. I was curious because from the way he spoke about him he seemed to have a bit of resentment towards him. I'm guessing more happened between them then he was telling me but I think I forced enough information out of him for today. This was something he won't want to talk about so I'll give him his time.
He stayed silent as he tried to find an answer to my straight forward question. He brought a hand up to scratched the back of his neck. "Kind of. We don't talk as much as we used to but that's more due to how our schedules work I think." He said, over thinking every word that left his mouth. Ya that just proved my thought that there was more to the story and I'm leaving this alone for now.
Deciding to drop the heavy subjects I put a smile on my face and walked over to where he was lent against the counter. He opened his arms to me as I got closer and once I was at arms reach of him he grab me, pulling me close. I giggle and laid my head on his chest.
I looked up at him with my chin resting against his chest. "Are you staying tonight?" I ask him sweetly, trying to gear his answer int he direction I wanted.
"I did have to go into work early tomorrow." he said and i let out a whine because he said he would before. "But I think I can stay and just go in a bit late if that would make you happy." He fin shed after hearing how upset I was.
