Frank really didn't want to face Gerard the next day at school. The night before, he spent his time thinking of Gerard and their almost kiss and he'd come to a final conclusion: Gerard was obviously drunk and it didn't mean anything. Even more proof to that thought was the fact they'd only just met that day and none of that 'love at first sight' shit was real.

Frank knew all of this was just so he could move past it, but did he really care?  No, he just wanted to forget Gerard. Gerard, however, had other plans.

At lunch, Gerard found Frank sat at yet the same table, but this time with Hailey. As he approached, Frank was laughing at something Hailey said and as soon and Gerard and Frank locked eye contact, that smile was replaced by a frown.

"Gerard? "

Gerard nervously waved at Hailey and sat across from them. "Hey, Hailey. Hey, Frank. "

Frank nodded in Gerard's direction. "Hey, Gerard. "

Gerard frowned and then blushed when he remembered why Frank would be weird towards him. They'd almost kissed.

"I'm sorry, " Gerard said to Frank but snuck a glance at Hailey as he spoke. "about... you know. "

Frank didn't look at Gerard. He kept his head down, hoping Gerard would leave. Gerard made him feel nervous and Frank Iero never felt nervous.

"It's okay. " Even Frank noticed how wavey and nervous his voice sounded.

Hailey laughed. "Awe, Frank. Is Gerard here making you
nervous? "

Frank stood up and flipped off Hailey. "Fuck off, " He said before stalking off.

Gerard looked over at Hailey for an explanation.

Hailey grinned sweetly at Gerard. "It's okay, Sweetheart. He's just being Frank. He hides his emotions. Even from himself."

Gerard bit his lip. "Why does he hate me? "

"He doesn't hate you. He -"

Hailey was cut off by the bell going off and she smiled at Gerard.

"Just have him tell you after school. Me and Pete are going to Frank's house. You can come to. Around, " She pause to think. "About six."

Gerard nodded. "Okay. Thanks. "

Hailey smiled. "No problem. See you later. "

After school, Frank watched as Gerard started walking in the direction of both of their houses and began to get anxious. Gerard, walking by himself, in the "bad side " of Jersey?  Frank couldn't let anything happen to him. What kind of friend would he be then? Frank rushed past the group of kids that seemed to move in Frank's way as he ran over to Gerard.

"Hey! Gerard! " Gerard turned and Frank waved as he jogged over.

"Can I walk with you, " Frank asked.

Gerard shrugged. "Yeah, sure. "

They'd walked maybe ten steps before Gerard looked up down at Frank and asked him what was on his mind:N"Why were you mad at me earlier? "

Frank just looked away and shrugged. "I dunno."

"I didn't mean what happened back at the party, " Gerard rushed out.

Frank looked at Gerard and smiled slightly. "And that's the problem, Gee. "

Gerard wanted to question his new nickname but what Frank said was even more confusing. Frank didn't say anything for the rest of the way to Gerard's house.

"Well, " Gerard said when they arrived at his house. "See you later. "

"Yeah, see you at school, " Frank muttered before walking.

He heard Gerard say something and stopped walking.

"Hailey invited me over... "

Gerard and Frank made eye contact and Gerard pinned his lips together.

"I just won't go. "

Gerard spun around before the tears left his eyes and walked into his house. Leaving Frank outside not knowing what to do. Gerard threw his book bag onto his bedroom floor as he ran in and shut the door behind him and collapsing onto his bed. He knew Frank didn't want to kiss him. Who would?  He was just a fat, emo freak who couldn't stand up for himself.

He didn't even want to care anymore and the fact that he cared made him cry even more. He was a pathetic, crying mess and by the time six o'clock came around, Gerard wasn't asleep. No, he was reading. A sudden knock on his window made him jump, but when he saw Frank's face, Gerard jumped up and rushed to the window.

Frank grinned at Gerard. "Open the window. I wanna talk to you. "

Gerard quickly opened the window and helped Frank inside.

"What's up? "

Frank looked around Gerard's room and was shocked. He expected to see posters everywhere and maybe a couple comic books but instead was drawings all over the floor and the wall. Frank turned to where Gerard was closing the window.

"I wanna start over. A new start. "

Gerard gave Frank a weird look. "A new start? "

Frank cracked Gerard a smile and sat on his bed. "I'm Frank Iero. I'm short but I can kick your ass. Your turn. "

Gerard sat beside Frank and laughed. "Okay. I'm Gerard Way. I'm a fat, emo mess who spends his time drawing. As you can see. "

Frank rolled his eyes. "You're not fat. "

Gerard sighed. "I'd rather not argue. "

"You're not. Gee, " Frank smiled, "You're probably the most beautiful boy I've ever seen. "

Gerard blushed. "Frank, boys aren't supposed to be beautiful."

Frank ran a hand through his hair and layed back onto Gerard's bed. "You are. Deal with it. "

Gerard sighed. "I'm a mess. "

Frank sat up a little to meet Gerard's gaze and threw him a smile.

"Ah, ah, ah," Frank shook his head. "A beautiful mess, " Frank corrected, causing Gerard to let out the most feminine giggle to escape a boy's lips and, to Frank, it somehow fit Gerard.
