I finish up the last of my waffles and get up to put my plate away.

I don't think I should tell anyone what Rosie told me. I don't want it to seem like I'm still breaking, but I also don't want to seem like I'm becoming desperate enough to trust what a little kid told me. I think it would be best for me to just dismiss it.

"Katie!" I hear Miranda say, "meet us at the pier!"

"Okay! See you there!" I reply and frown. Great I got the stupid syrup on me and now my hands are sticky. I look down at them as I walk back to my seat to get a napkin but instead walk into someone else and get knocked down.

"Oh Gods, sorry." A voice says stepping back.

"No, no, sorry it's my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going." I say.

The person reaches down a hand for me and I take it. They lift me up and then I see who it is. Travis.

"You really should start watching where you're going, Kates." He says giving me his lopsided smile

"Thanks for the tip, Stoll." I say cutting the conversation short as I walk past him.

I don't even go two steps before I hear him say "So, are you sure you don't wanna hang out?"

A twinge of pain, sadness and longing fills my chest and I catch myself about to reconsider. Quickly I compose myself and turn back facing him.

"Travis, half my cabin wants to kill you in the most painful way. The other half wants to forget you. I'm pretty sure I'm the only reason they haven't killed you yet. So how about you hang out with your girlfriend, Myra? You chose her remember? Got what you wanted."

"Listen...Katie—" he says.

I can't believe he wants to do this. He's asked me to hang out and talk at least every other day.

"Bye, Stoll." I say over my shoulder as I walk to the pier.

I hear him mumble something. As I walk away the words which come out of his mouth only sound like the impossible.

"Myra's not the one I chose."
