Chapter 5- Flying Gingers And Enemies

"Y-your one too, aren't you?" Max stuttered. I forced myself not smile, even though the joy of finding someone like me erupted inside me.

Slowly, I lifted my eyes, meeting his then looking down at the ground again. "Yes" I whispered softly. So softly only we could hear it.

Max sighed and croaked, "this is crazy. I-I need proof though. I mean we just met and I gave out my darkest secret. I'll show you mine if you will show me yours."

I paused, thinking about it. Could this be a trap? Was he telling the truth? I didn't have much to go on, but he did look like a good kid.

Trusting my instincts, I said, "fine. We need to go somewhere private though."

Max tapped his chin and said, "what about my basement? My parents are gone and my little siblings are watching TV."

"Okay. We have to cover all windows and lock all doors. Sorry to sound so creepy about this, but I can't take any risks to have someone else find out about this." I replied. Max sighed and nodded his head, leading me into his house.

Dr. Frame sat upright in the drivers seat, seeing me disappear into the house. "What! H-he's leaving me! Ah!" He panicked while keeping a look out for cops.

Meanwhile, Max lead me inside his very neat house. I gazed at the dust free portraits hanging in the wall above a grand piano when Max said, "come on."

Snapping out of my trance, I followed him down a set of stairs, leading into a small boiler room with only a furnace and a couple of cardboard boxes.

Max grabbed a dusty blanket from one of the boxes, then covering up a tiny window, leaving the room dark, except for a small wall light that sat in the corner of the room..

"Alright. You first" Max gulped. I paused, thinking how I was going to do this.

"Are any of these boxes heavy?" I questioned. Max stopped and looked at them. "Uh, yeah. The bottom one is full of a bunch of textbooks. It's pretty heavy and I don't think a normal person could lift it."

"Luckily I'm not normal" I smiled while stepping in front of the box. Rubbing my hands together I grabbed the bottom of the box and hoisted it up with only one hand. It felt like an empty shoe box to me.

Deciding to impress the boy off, I balanced the box on my left pointer finger and gave it a push with my right hand. Soon, I had the box spinning like a basketball.

Max stood there with his jaw touching the ground as he gawked at my powers. "W-whoa!"

I sat the box down and folded my arms. "Your turn." Max shook his head, snapping out of his shock. "O-okay. Um, well, don't freak out when you see what I can do."

"Trust me. I haven't never been more freaked out since I discovered I had super strength" I replied.

Max sighed and straightened himself, taking a deep breath. Suddenly, I felt my mouth drop as he started floating, no, flying!

He swam around the room, watching my shocked face. "Y-you can fly. That's pretty sweet" I gasped.

Max smiled as he put his hands behind his head. "Hey! You have super strength! I think that's much cooler."

I gave a nervous laugh saying, "wow. So there is really people like us." Max dropped onto the ground, sliding his hands into his pockets. "I guess so. Crazy right? I thought you were just bluffing from the start to be honest. But when you showed me your strength I thought it was amazing!"
