Chapter 31 Katelyn POV

I ran to catch up to the three heading down the stairs. Then once I caught up to them I tripped on a stair and sent Samantha, Severus, and myself tumbling down the rest of the way down. Samantha got to the bottom first and rolled a little farther back from the steps. Then Severus landed on his back at the very bottom and his robes spread out making him look like an over grown bat. I landed on top of him on my back. The three of us groaned in pain as Dumbledore rushed down the stairs to see if we were ok. Samantha staggered up and leaned against the wall. I felt something warm and sticky on my forehead. I reached a shaky hand up and I felt the substance. I pulled my hand away and saw blood on my hand. I groaned in pain again. I staggered up and put a hand on the spot that I was bleeding on my forehead. Dumbledore couldn't help but laugh at Severus because he looked like an over grown bat that crash landed. Severus got up and leaned against the wall to steady himself.
   "Oi, what was that for, Katelyn", Samantha asked rubbing her forehead.
   "Sorry", I said removing my hand to find it covered in blood now. Severus seemed to notice my blood covered hand because he looked at me in concern. Dumbledore waited for us to pull ourselves together and for me to take care of my forehead before we went on our walk. I noticed Harry and the twins slip out without the others noticing. Then we went outside and I realized it was already winter. I was lost in thought of how the time could have passed so fast when I was hit in the face with a snowball. I fell back and looked for the culprit. My gaze fell on Samantha who had another snowball in her hand. I growled at her and made a snowball and threw it at her but she ducked and it hit Severus in the back. He spun around smirking and I saw a snowball in his hand. He threw it but I ducked and it hit Dumbledore. Then we started throwing snowballs at each other. I pulled out my broken wand and made a snow fort with what was left of it. I made the fort like a maze that always changed.
"Oh now we are having some fun", Samantha said. I snuck around and hit Severus with a snowball in the face. He looked around for the culprit but he didn't see me. I let out a soft giggle and he headed my way but then Dumbledore hit him in the back with a snowball. Then an idea struck me.
"BOYS VERSUS GIRLS", I shouted at the top of my lungs. Severus let out a deep baritone chuckle that made my head spin.
"As you wish", he said as he sent a fleet of flying snowballs my way.
"NO MAGIC", Samantha added.
"Ugh...fine", Severus grumbled. Then I hit him square on his hooked nose with a snowball. Dumbledore threw one at me but missed as I went deeper into the maze. Severus chased after me but then a wall came up in front of him because the maze changed again. I was separated from Samantha and Severus was separated from Dumbledore. Then as I was looking back I ran into someone.
"Looks like boys win", Severus said smashing two snowballs in my face. I wiped the ice cold snow off my face.
"For now", I said. He raised a brow at me. Then I realized that Samantha disappeared.
   "Where is-", I said.
   "She went to her dormitory and Dumbledore went to talk to Minerva", Severus interrupted with a smirk plastered on his face. I wrapped my arms around his neck and placed my lips on his. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed back. Our lips moved in time with each other's. Then Dumbledore cleared his throat. My head snapped toward Dumbledore who was standing there smiling.
   "I see you to are enjoying the nice winter wonderland", Dumbledore said. I blushed furiously and he just gave a small chuckle before walking off.
   "We better head to my personal quarters for the night", Severus said.
   "Ok", I said and I followed him down to the dungeons. I curled up on the couch and Severus went to his bed. Then I dozed off.
   My dream was different from the one I had normally. I was walking around Hogwarts but it was empty. Like it was abandoned. I walked around until I ended up in the Great Hall. I walked into the Great Hall and saw it was decorated like there was going to be a grand ball or something. Then people came into view. Then as I made my way through the crowd I looked for Severus. Then I spotted him leaning on a wall in the shadows. I walked over and he smiled at me but on my way I felt someone grab my chin and the top of my head and then a snap echoed through the Great Hall. I fell lifelessly to the ground and a ringing sound filled my ears as Severus ran over to me. I was dead. Then smoke filled the room and I was back to life but everyone else was dead. Including Severus. I snapped awake.
I sat up freezing cold in the dark room. I shivered and goose bumps covered my skin. I sat on the couch with my knees tucked close to my chest. Then as my eyes adjusted to the dark I saw a faint outline of the door to Severus's bedroom. I stood up and made my way to the door and slowly opened it being as quiet as I could. I shut the door behind me as silently as possible and I walked to the bed. When I pulled the covers back Severus shifted and he looked at me.
"Hmmm", he muttered.
"Go back to sleep I am just cold", I said climbing into the bed with him. I pulled the covers over myself and he pulled me closer to him. I laid there awake not wanting to fall asleep. Severus snored softly beside me. Then ,after what felt like days, it was time to get up and ready for classes. Severus sat up and so did I. I was exhausted but I didn't want to sleep. I got out of the bed and went to grab some of my school robes from my dresser.
   "Öffnen(open)", I muttered and the drawers unlocked. I pulled out my school robes and went to the bathroom to get dressed. Then I brushed my hair and teeth. I walked out and opened my bottom drawer. I took a deep breath and stepped in. I fell down a few feet before hitting the ground. I looked around and saw what I was looking for. My iPod and beats. I grabbed them and climbed out of the drawer to see Severus looking dumbfounded. I gave out a small chuckle and closed the drawer. The dresser locked itself and I put my beats on. I unlocked my iPod and turned on Spotify. Then 'Can't Hold Us' by pentatonix started playing. I trudged all the way to the Great Hall. I sat away from all the other Slytherins and almost fell asleep with my chin resting on my hand. Then a throat clearing behind me made me snap wide awake. I turned around and saw Draco. I groaned in annoyance. He smirked.
   "What's wrong", he asked, "having trouble staying awake? Here this will help." He put something in my food and I gave him a distasteful look. He walked off with Crabbe and Goyle. I rolled my eyes and my stomach growled. I took a bite of my food and felt like throwing up. I ran out as quickly as possible without causing a scene and ran to the girls bathroom. I spit my food out and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes had been drained of their color and so had my face. I was really pale. Then my vision started to go blurry. I walked out and was tripped by someone. I could no longer see so I sat up and and sat crisscross applesauce on the floor with my arms crossed. Then I heard people leaving the Great Hall.
   'Great just what I need...and I can't even see...I hope Severus helps me before anyone sees me', I thought to myself.
   "Ms. Hollow, is everything ok", Dumbledore asked.
   "Just my luck", I muttered then spoke up, "no I can't see....I have lost my vision apparently."
   "I see", he said laughing. I groaned at the bad joke and he helped me up.
   "So what do I do now", I asked.
   "You are going to go to the Hospital wing", he replied. He lead me to the hospital wing and lead me to an empty bed. I sat down and he looked for Madame Pomfrey. Then she came over and inspected me. She turned to Dumbledore and said something I couldn't quite make out. Then I heard the door open. I saw Draco come in with a small vial and something in a plastic bag. Then he disappeared. I didn't think much of it. Finally, Dumbledore nodded at Madame Pomfrey and then left. Then she turned to me.
   "Let me get you something to drink", she said. She came back with a tea pot and a cup. She knew I was too old to be a student. She would have found out anyway. She left me and put curtains around my bed so I could rest in peace. I could sort of see now since she gave me the antidote a little bit ago before talking to Dumbledore. I grabbed the tea pot and the cup. I poured myself a drink and saw the substance was a smokey gray. I shrugged it off and drank some. Immediately my insides started writhing as though I just swallowed live snakes. A burning sensation spread from my stomach to the very ends of my fingers and toes. I gasped in pain. Then Madame Pomfrey called to me.
   "Katelyn, I am going to owl Professor Snape to see if he can figure out what Draco put on your food but he will have to come here", she said. Then the skin over my body bubbled like hot wax. My hair got darker until it became black. My nose became hooked. Then I realized what was happening. I drank a polyjuice potion. Then my hair became shoulder length. Then I it hit me. Who was the one person with black shoulder length hair and a hooked nose? Severus. Then the doors opened and an all to familiar voice rang though the hospital wing. Now I was a splitting image of Severus except in girl clothes.
   "Where is she", Severus asked.
   "Over there", Madame Pomfrey said. His footsteps started coming toward me. Then it hit me. My clothes didn't exactly fit. I pulled the hospital blanket over me right before Severus stepped through the curtain. I folded my arms and put on his usual scowl. He gasped in surprise and stumbled back.
   "What's wrong", I asked but it was in his silky baritone voice.
   "What.....how.....", he stammered. I let out a baritone chuckle.
   "How about a polyjuice potion", I asked in his voice. He stood there looking dumbfounded when Dumbledore came back and fell back at the sight of two Snapes in front of him. I let out another baritone chuckle and then gasped in pain. My teeth hurt. Severus gave me a confused look but then I remembered. I pulled my Invisalign out of my mouth and it was damaged beyond repair. Then Dumbledore let out a chuckle.
   "This is disturbing", Severus said.
   "What? That I am a splitting image of you", I asked, "it only lasts for a hour."
   "Still", he said, "it is....weird."
   "Since when is anything in the wizarding world not weird", I said.
"Good point", he said. Then I pulled out my broken wand to change my clothes but my wand did nothing. I muttered something under my breath and Dumbledore pulled out Samantha's wand.
"She said that you might want to use this since yours broke", he said handing it to me. I took the wand and changed my clothes. I was now wearing the same robes as Severus. I looked exactly like Severus now. I stood up beside Severus and looked at Dumbledore.
"Hey Dumbledore, which one is which", I said and spun me and Severus around in circles and switching our places.
"This isn't funny", Severus said.
"Really, Katelyn. Knock it off...just because you look just like me doesn't mean you can play around", I said. I still had his baritone voice.
"Ummmm....wha....", Dumbledore said confused.
"Really, now isn't a time to play around", Severus said.
"Yeah so stop playing", I said. I couldn't help but smirk. He crossed his arms and so did I. Dumbledore was so confused by this point. Then an idea hit me.
   "I have an idea that will scare your classes", I said.
   "What would that be", Severus asked.
   "Them showing up to class with two Snapes that do the same thing at the same time", I explained.
   "That would probably give the students nightmares", Dumbledore said.
   "It'll be fun...come on", I said.
   "Fine", Severus muttered. Then we rushed down to his class before the students could get there. Then they walked in and we stood side by side. As soon as Harry came in he looked petrified. He caught my eye and I gave him a wink. He seemed to calm down at this. Neville rubbed his eyes as if he was seeing double. Then class started. I did everything Severus did. Then while they weren't paying attention to me I made my way over to Harry.
   "Don't worry Snape doesn't have an evil twin", I said in his ear, "it is me, Katelyn, and someone slipped a polyjuice potion in my drink." Then Severus made his way around the room. He came over to me and we chatted for a bit about potions until Minerva burst through the doors. She took one look at the sight and shook her head before making her way over to us.
"Severus....and ummm...,Severus... Class will be cut short because there is a problem in the hospital wing", she said.
"I see", we said at the same time and the same tone. She rolled her eyes and walked away. Then I saw Draco who was snickering. I nudged Severus and pointed this out. He growled and sat down at his desk. I walked around and some of the Slytherins asked me for help. I helped them but made sure they did it wrong. Then Severus dismissed the class early and we walked to the hospital wing. We got there and I sat down and looked at the time. It had been over an hour since I had the polyjuice potion. I was a little worried but ignored it. A little later a very annoyed Severus lead us back down to the dungeons.
   "Alright", he said finally, "how much longer until you don't look like me?"
   "Well....that's the problem", I said rubbing my arm, "and it is becoming a bother that I look like you."
   "Why's that", he asked looking at me.
   "I can't hug you or kiss you at the moment because it is just....weird considering the predicament", I explained. Then Dumbledore walked down the hall with Samantha and she nearly fell down.
   "There is two of you", she exclaimed.
   "No...more like Malfoy decided to put a polyjuice potion in my drink and it is not wearing off", I said crossing my arms.
   "Oh", Samantha said, "that's a relief." Severus faked a hurt face.
   "Hey! Let's see how you survive turning into the person you love and not being able to kiss them or hug them without it being weird or awkward", I snapped. She looked guilty.
   "Sorry", she said softly. I ran my hand through my hair and shook my head.
   "I am going to lay down for a bit", I said storming off towards the quarters that I shared with Severus. As I stormed off Draco grabbed my arm.
   "Katelyn", he said.
   "What do you want Draco", I snapped, "you already caused enough trouble."
   "How fun is it now", he asked smirking, "I changed it up and you will see how soon enough..." I yanked my arm away and stormed off. I got in and walked to my dresser.
   "Öffnen(open)", I said to the dresser. The drawers unlocked and I turned a small dial on the bottom drawer. I opened it and jumped in. I landed in front of a door. I opened the door and walked into my portable office. I threw everything off my desk and threw the battered chair. I flipped the desk and didn't notice Severus come in. As I did this my hair went to its original golden brown and became longer and I slowly started to go back to normal. I kicked the chair with tears rolling down my face. I slowly backed up to a corner and sat down with my back in the corner and my knees tucked in. I buried my face in my knees still not noticing Severus. Then I felt someone beside me. I looked up and saw Severus sitting beside me. I pulled him close and he wrapped his arms around me. The tips of my hair were still black but I didn't notice nor did I care. I was so stressed out.
   "Are you ok, Katelyn", he asked. I looked him in the eye and shook my head no before bursting into sobs and burying my face into his chest. Then the faint sound of someone knocking on the door to the private quarters filled the air. Severus stood up and walked out to answer the door. I stood up and saw my hair was black at the tips. Then it slowly got shorter and I slowly became exactly like Severus. By time Severus was back I looked exactly like him but I didn't care. I stayed curled up in the corner and then I heard him coming back.
   "That was Dumbledore", Severus said, "he was wanting to see if you were ok."
