Chapter 3

"You did a good job cleaning up"

"I don't like cleaning. Please don't make me do it again."

"Well next time you'll know to dibs quicker."

Zach narrowed his eyes at Skylar. 

Chad ran into the room acting hysterical.

"GUYS! Come quickly. It's Eva."

Skylar and Zach ran to the living room only to se Eva holding her head.

"Eva! What's wrong with her?!"

"We don't know Skye!"

Skylar thought to herself. She had an idea. She looked at Chad.

"I have an idea but Chad I need you to listen to me."

He quickly nodded and walked over to the girls. 

"When Glozine was alive, she had this thing where she see what was in our heads. So maybe you can do the same."

She took his hands and placed them on Eva's head. 

"I can't hear anything! It's like her mind is blocked by something."

"Focus and try to break the wall that is surrounding her thoughts."

He suddenly gasped. Austin rushed to his side.

"There's this voice. It's insulting her and us. It feels like every word is banging against the sides of her brain."

Zach looked at Skylar and grabbed her hand. She looked down at their entwined hands.

"Brain freeze."

Skylar smiled at his idea. She placed one of her hands gently on top of Eva's head and Eva calmed down.

"Its stopped. The voices are gone."

Skylar lifted her hand off Eva and smiled. Relief overtook their emotion but Zach soon felt worry. Eva and Austin had both experienced something in the space of a couple of hours. What if Skylar was next? He refused to let that happen. He put the thought to the back of his mind as he saw all his friends smiling and laughing.

"Brain freeze. Nice one Zach."

"I was feeling hungry and wanted ice cream."

Eva sent a spiralling wind which knocked him over

"Okay that didn't hurt."

"You alright Eva?"

"I guess so."

"Right then. Austin how are you feeling?"

"Fine ready for anything."

"Good. Eva you're excused from training today where as us lot are going to train for a few hours."

"You know what I suddenly feel faint. I know I said 'anything' but I would rather do anything else than that."

Skylar pulled a 'I don't care face' and started to walk outside.

"She isn't going to do anything to me right?"

Austin turned around to see Zach and Chad hiding behind the chair. Confused he turned around again, only to get a face full of water. 

"She won't use her magic on you but that doesn't mean she won't use a water gun."

"SKYE!"

Austin ran after her. Everyone was laughing. Somehow they all ended up outside with a water gun each. They were covered in water. Skylar's smile was replaced with a look of discomfort. Skylar sat down and Eva went over to her.

"You okay?"

"Huh.. uh yea fine. Go on I'll be there now."

She was lying but soon after she joined the water fight again. It was getting darker and colder so they all headed inside. After changing they all sat in the living room and decided to watch a film.

Skylar went to make drinks for everyone and soon afterwards Eva went to help her. 

"Are you sure you're okay? You look kinda pale."

"I'm fine. I'm usually this pale I might be part vampire."

Eva wondered if she was telling the truth. They went back into the room and saw the boys sleeping. They quietly laughed to each other. Before heading to their rooms, Eva put a blanket over Chad and Austin, who were holding each other tightly, while Skylar put one on Zach and kissed his head.

"Night Eva."

"Night Skye..... Hey you know you can tell me anything right?"

"Of course I know that and you know you can tell me anything."

Eva had been hiding something too and Skylar had noticed.

"I know."

"Good because being us we can't keep anything to ourselves. See you tomorrow"

"See ya."

As Skylar closed her door, she fell against the wall in pain. She looked at the bruises on her wrist and her side. After a few deep breaths she went to bed and she attempted to sleep but she knew she wouldn't be sleeping for the eighth time in eight days.
