Chapter 7

"So did you enjoy hanging out with your old friends?"

"It was okay but I couldn't go back to being friends with them. I much prefer you and the others"

Skylar smiled after realising that they really couldn't get rid of each other. The only problem now  was to find out what happened in the past.

"How are we meant to figure out anything without our memories?"

"Let's think. Either someone has got our memories or they are lost due to something else"

They all sat in the dining room of their house. 

"Wait....."

"What is it Eva?'

"Is there anything Chad can do?"

"It's possible. He has the knowledge that Glozine had."

Everyone looked at Chad who appeared to be concentrating on something.

"What is he doing?"

"He's accessing the information we need"

Chad let out a deep breath and blinked a couple of times.

"There is a possibility that a Lethe is involved."

"A Lethe?"

"Wait as in one of the five rivers of the Underworld?"

"That's right Zach. They say if you drank from the river you experienced complete forgetfulness"

"Then why did you say a Lethe?"

"Because in our world it's not a river but people instead. People who can make you forget anything"

"Do we know of any Lethe alive today?"

"Yes....."

"Oh no"

Everyone turned to Skylar.

"What Skye?"

"It's Louie."

"What? How could you know?"

"Of course. I get it now."

"Oh come on. Eva knows as well?"

"When we first met Louie at the bus stop, he knew our names. Then he would appear and say things cryptically as if he knew something we didn't"

"We need to find him immediately"

"Austin's right. The longer we wait, the more chance we will be involved in another fight today."

"Where do we start though?"

"How about the place where Skye unleashed all that magic"

"What place is that?"

"The tree where Glozine died"

"We should go now"

They all stood and headed to leave. Austin was tying his shoelaces and saw Skylar wince in pain while holding her wrist. He creeped up behind her and grabbed her arm. He pulled her sleeve down and saw bruises. 

"What is this Skye?"

"I don't know yet"

Austin pulled down the collar of his hoodie and showed a bruise.

"It appeared after the dream. Are those because of something like that?"

"It must be from the fighting. Don't worry about it"

They left to catch up with the others. She knew she was lying but she wouldn't risk Austin or the others getting hurt. If only she knew that she needed to keep her friends close rather than pushing them away.
