Chapter 12

"Where am I?"

"You live here Skye."

"Skye? I prefer Skylar"

Zach sighed knowing she really was gone. Eva tried to smile but everyone could see it was forced. 

"Do you remember our names? I'm Austin."

"Chad."

"Eva."

"I'm Zach"

"Why can't I remember you?"

"Umm it's complicated."

Skylar nodded to show her understanding. The rest of the group went over to the kitchen.

"I know Louie said she might remember on her own but what if we helped."

"We could take her to school and see if that does anything."

"I hope this helps"

They went back to Skylar and asked if she wanted to see the school. She wanted to go for the same reason as the others. She wanted to see if she could remember.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?"

"Yea. I need to find things for myself."

"The boys told me not to leave you"

"I know Eva but if we are friends you have to let me do this."

Eva reluctantly let her go. That's when Skylar met Kirsty.

"Skye?"

"Uh Skylar please"

"You don't remember me?"

"No sorry"

"I'm............. Your best friend."

"But I thought they were my best friends."

"Oh no no. They just said that. They are always lying, they're trouble."

"I don't believe that."

"They've messed with your head. Did they explain why you can't remember?"

"No but that doesn't........."

"Can't you see what they've done? Come on I'll fill you in on everything."

Kirsty took Skylar to the main hall where everyone was. When Austin tried to speak to her, Kirsty pulled Skylar away.

"Haven't you done enough? You and your 'friends' are monsters. Stay away from Skylar."

Austin was angry and saddened by what Kirsty had done. He went to find the others immediately.

"What do you mean? How has Kirsty taken Skye?"

"She told Skye things to make her think we lied to her."

"No! Eva why did you leave her?!?!"

"I thought she'd be safe!!"

"Zach you can't say much! You haven't said anything to her!"

"Whatever Chad! You're meant to be our guardian!!"

"STOP!!!! Come on guys. This won't help Skye."

"Austin's right. Who is this Kirsty anyway?"

"She moved here not long ago. She just appeared. Not much is known about her."

"Well we need to prove to Skye who her real friends are."

At the same time Skylar was in Kirsty's room. 

"Are you sure I don't know them?"

"Are you doubting me?! I wasn't lying when I said they were monsters. They have the ability to do many things."

Kirsty sat in front of Skylar and held onto her shoulders. She looked her right in the eye.

"Look at me. They are bad people and I'm protecting you."

That's how it went for the next few weeks. Skylar spent her time with Kirsty while the others silently watched. She would notice they weren't in and ask Kirsty about it but every time it was the same speech about them being bad people. That would make her forget about the question. The attacks got worse and they knew the real battle was coming soon.
