Grey
I stand up quickly, like that would somehow hide what my brother just saw.
"Finn. Hi."
"Hi... Are... are you feeling better now?" Even his voice sounds dazed and confused.
"Yeah. I'm good."
"Good."
Finn's eyes narrow suddenly, leaning his head towards me, "You get your ear pierced?"
"Huh?" I move my hand up, there's someting there, something metal and shaped like a ring. I push past Finn, dashing across the hall to the bathroom mirror. Sure enough, there's an earring halfway up my right ear. What the hell? "What the hell?" I repeat, loud.
"Pretending like you don't know... Nice way to cover up the fact that you got your ear pierced..." Finn laughs behind me.
"Shuddup." I snap at him, twisting the ring in my ear, looking for the little ball to unscrew to get the earring off.
"Oh come off it, stop acting-"
"I don't think he's lying." Eli says. I watch myself flush in the mirror, making brief eye contact with him as he leans against the door frame. I mentally slap myself, focus Grey.
"There's no way little ball thing. Look." Finn twists it round, doing the same thing I had.
"That's so wierd... How did you get it through your ear?"
"How the hell should I know?! I can't even remember getting it done!" I snap at him.
"Piercings don't just appear, Grey."
Oh dear god... "How long have I been out?"
He checks his watch, "It's like 8pm so... 28 hours or something? Well, according to mum, this guy brought you home at like 4 yesterday, so it's probably gonna be longer than 28 hours'."
"Three hours..."
"Huh?"
"There were three hours between him taking me home and me passing out."
"what're you on about?"
I stomp back to my room, now pissed off. I scan my room till I find my school bag, opening it and throwing stuff out until I find my phone. I scroll through my recents, eventually finding the unknown number from when Drake called me a week ago. I hit call. He picks up after a few tones,
"Grey! You're awake!" There are people in the background and music.
"What the hell did you do?"
"Hey, calm down, little lamb."
"Stop calling me that!" He laughs down the phone at me. "The peircing, did you do that when I was unconcious?"
"Heh heh, you got me."
"Why?"
"Because you're mine." His tone is serious all of a sudden, menacing. Used to his usualy joky voice, it throws me a little. I realise that Eli is standing and watching by the door so I lower my voice.
"I-I'm not."
"Not what?" I can't say it outloud, I can't let Eli hear. We almost kissed. In the one to one million chance that it meant the same to me that it did to him, I can't say something like 'I'm not yours' out loud to another guy.
"How do I get it off?"
"You can't. I got it from the city, it's one of a kind, the join seals over once it's been pierced. Sorry about that sweetheart, it's never coming off. Whether you like it or not." I stare into space. Who the hell does he think he is? What kind of guy goes around marking people as 'his'? I end the call, before things get even wierder.
"Who was that?" Eli asks, making me jump.
"Drake. The guy who brought me home yesterday. He's a massive dickhead."
"Was he the one who... did that?" He nods to the bruises on my wrists.
"No." I think for a moment, "He's not dangerous, he's just..." Just what? I think he gets the message that I don't really want to talk about him anymore.
"About earlier-"
"It was a mistake. Caught up in the moment, that kind of thing." I beat him to it, saying it so he doesn't have to.
"Y-yeah. You're right." I can't look at him again. He coughs, "I should go."
For some reason, his arms are around me. He squeezes me. He smells so good, that amazing guy smell that's something like aftershave and shampoo. I want to hug him back but I feel like if I did, I'd never be able to let him go. So I wait and after a second, he lets me go. He pulls my phone from my hand and I hear it clicking.
"Here." He hands it back to me, "If you're ever scared or afraid- or anything- you can call me and I'll be there."
"Okay." He smiles and walks out, stopping for a moment and turning around like he want to say more. But then he sighs, shaking his head, and walks out.
I let out a breath I hadn't realised I'd been holding. Finn appears at my door again.
"Don't tell Simon. About what you saw."
"I wouldn't." He clears his throat awkwardly, "So are you and him, yunno?"
"No."
"D'you like him... in that way?"
"Are we really going to talk boys, Finn?"
He laughs, "No, I guess that'd be wierd, wouldnt it? I'm okay with it if you liked him in that way. He's a good guy."
"I'll um, I'll bare that in mind."
"If you ever do want to talk then I'm here." It's strange, we've never talked like this before.
"Thanks."
"That sort of suits you." He points at my ear then leaves. I have a feeling that things are about to get a lot more complicated.
A/N
This is probably the shortest time taken for me to update. Like ever. It's a miracle. I know it's short again, but.. hmm... I don't know how to put it... Basically= longer chapters.
Also.. if there are some mistakes, I wrote some of it in Eli's PoV and then changed it later so sorry about that
