Eli
I stand with my friends that I didn't even plan on making. I just have a habit of that, drawing people closer to me the more that I want them to leave me alone. The top girls school and the top boys school in this area are within the same walls, so at lunch and break there are always girls around. Which is not as good as guys at my school might think it is. Not for me anyway. I sigh, annoyed by the way that some girl- Melody- is clinging onto my arm, laughing and pressing herself against me in a way that just makes me feel uncomfortable.
"What's wrong, babe?" Babe? Since when did I ask to get called babe?
"Er... I just remembered I forgot something in maths, I'm gonna go get it." I start to walk off but she moves in front of me, sqeezing a hand on my arm and looking up at me in a way that most guys would find seductive.
"D'you need any help?"
"NO!" I shout, causing looks shot at me. I smile, rubbing a hand against the back of my head, "I mean, no, that's... that's fine. I'll see you in a bit." I say gently and her face relaxes. She returns the smile and lets me go. Thank god. I walk off, mainly just to get away from everyone but partly because I realised then that I really had left something in maths.
"Hey, Eli!" Footsteps echo through the corridor behind me, getting closer. I know who it is and I walk faster, pretending I hadn't heard him.
UInfortunately, he catches up with me. I turn around as Finn catches my shoulder, panting a little, "Mate. Stop avoiding me."
"I haven't been avoiding you..." I grumble. Ofcourse I've been avoiding him, he nearly caught me and his brother...
"Look, I don't care. I really don't care if you're going at it with my brother..." I go red and he smiles awkwardly, "Actually, I do care. If I didn't care- I'd be a shit brother."
"Right..." I can't help remembering the way Finn's dad acted, the way he just seems out to make fun of Grey.
"I'm not my dad, okay?" I snap my eyes up to his, it was as if he read my mind.
"How did you...?"
"I just guessed. People tend to think I'm like him... " He sighs, like that frustrates him, "I love him and I wouldn't do anything to hurt him and that means, I won't let anyone hurt him either." There's suddenly something dark that flashes in his eyes, threatening me.
"I'm never going to hurt him. Ever."
"Good." He nods, still looking threatening. Just as he's about to go, curiousity gets the better of me,
"Why does your dad act like such a dick to him?"
Finn sighs, running a hand through his dark hair. "You should ask Grey yourself." I look at the ground, lost in my thoughts.
I don't know how to reply but I don't have to because by the time I look up again, he's gone. I take out my phone, glad that I'd finally added Grey's number to my phone. I type out a quick message, scared for the hundredth time today that he was being perved on by some guy. The bruises on his wrist still burned in my mind. What had happened that he was scared to tell me about? And that earring? What the hell was going on.
I want to see him.
Grey
As soon as I walk into school, I can tell that something is different. It's like there's this hush everywhere. I mean, it's still loud, the guys that usually bug me are still bugging me as I walk past them but there's something else in the air. Like everyone's hearts aren't completely in it.
