I turn around. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up, like someone's watching me. There's no-one there. Just the rows of trees.
Nothing seems to have changed here, it's like while I was gone, time stood still.
I don't know why I came here... Maybe to see him? I laugh, shaking my head. It's not like he would be here, waiting for me. We were just kids, laughing in a haze of summer and youth. He didn't know back then, how much his words would mean to me. How I would hold him to those promises... Even if he forgot them, I would still remember. That doesn't make him a bad person, does it? It just makes me naive. I sigh, pressing my fingertips into my closed eyes... Ignore the spring, ignore the falling of the petals, ignore and forget those broken promises.

I take a drag from the cigarette between my fingers. Breathing out, I lean back against the wall and let the sun soak into my skin. I'm bored. Bored of useless parents, of this heat, bored of this shitty school. I've made my mind up though... I smile to myself, remembering that kid's face- about as scared looking as he was cute. Deep green eyes and light hair... Didn't look dyed either. A first year too, still looking innocent and clueless. Well, I'll change that. I crush the glowing stub of my cigarette beneath my foot. I'll make him mine.
