In carnage, they bloom like flowers upon the floor.
_______________________________________After pulling me inside I quickly hugged Wolf, the partner I hadn't seen for a whole decade was finally strong enough to come back in the human world. But something about the woman at the door ate at me, and it wasn't a normal being to me. Maybe it was the stance she took, or the persuasiveness in her voice. But the hair was odd to me the most, even if people nowadays liked it dyed that way, it wasn't normal and she didn't have the usual smell humans did. So I was going to interrogate Wolf for the answers whether he gave them up or not.
Well why wouldn't he? He's always been pretty honest and straightforward with me.
It made me furrow my eyebrows and think if he would really block me out after all this time, but the tight arm around my waist holding me up suggested something different. Why not give it a shot and ask?
"Wolf who was the woman at the door with the kid?" He grumbled in response to me which displeased me to hear.
He responded, "I guess she knew the guy who I possessed," He almost skipped over his own words but he continued,"Her name is Veronica, she was this guy's girlfriend I guess." He stared into my eyes with his harsh green ones as he talked, searching for my familiar gaze. Which was fine, we were bound by natural law to come unite again.
Suddenly, he growled lowly and his eyes began to scare me, they turned the same light green and dilated. Like a cats eyes that turned to slits when angry or hunting for prey. The only way I had seen this look before was when he shifted into his demon form to save me from being outcasted from the underworld. And he ripped others apart with no mercy. It made me think twice before angering him and made others weary as well.
Before I could even ask him what was wrong, he suddenly covered my mouth and listened for something, then I heard it too. It was like faint scratching, like a cat scratching but very far and faint. I felt my pupils immediately dialate, signaling the unknown danger behind the sound. He looked me straight in the eyes and me and him thought the same thing.
The door was being picked from the outside.
That made me realize someone was trying to break in, but what alarmed me most was the voice I heard behind the door. I heard them curse and break something. The lock pick probably broke.
But they had more, the scratching noise started again and I peered up at Wolf before he whisked us away from the living room. I knew better than to speak and alert the intruder behind the door that we were inside still, I needed to know who it was and make sure Wolf wasn't attacked before we got to unite with our beings again.
He stuck me in the closet of a room with dark blue bedsheets and grey walls. How great, maybe I could rent this cozy little closet out hmm Wolf. He returned a few seconds later after closing the bedroom door and slid in beside me. "Cozy and quaint ain't it?" I sarcastically mumbled. He glared at me, and signaled for me to hush, before sinking down to the floor. He gestured for me to do the same by reaching for my hand, I grabbed it and slowly sank down beside him.
We heard her loud footsteps outside before I heard her yell out in frustration. Grayson put his head on my shoulder and seemed to relax, but I just couldn't. I'd never felt bad for another human until now, considering she needed help.
