Chapter 5: Closer

Ronny's POV

**skips to end of the day**

"No practice today guys." Jerrod reminded us once the bell rang.

I sent Candy a text message. Then, got my bag and went out to the parking lot.

I leaned against the hood of my car while I waited.

Then she stepped out. I gave her a kiss and opened her car door.

"Well thank you sir." She said as she got in.

I nodded and jogged around the car and got in myself.

"How was your day?" We asked at the same time.

"You first." I said while starting the car.

"It was good."

"Jon Jon seemed to feel a little better after you talked to him. What did you say?"

She shrugged. "Not much."

I decided to leave it alone. "You working today?"

She shook her head no. "Tomorrow I do... Are you getting a job?"

"I plan on doing construction, soon as I turn 18."

"Oh yeah, your birthday is coming up. Damn, you getting old."

"I know, I'll be legal come December 3rd. Definitely need to turn up..." I paused like I was deep in thought, "think I'm gonna throw a house party."

"That sounds... fun, I guess."

"It's gon be live." I pictured it in my head. "Just wait."

Ryan's school would let out any second now.

"Tell me about Keyshia." Candace said out the blue.

I turned to her with a nasty look on my face. "What about her?"

"She swears up and down y'all were together."

"She's delusional, Candy. I done fucked her a few times, but that's all. We never had deep conversations, held hands or nothing. Hell, we barely even kissed."

"You sure?"

"What did I tell you this morning? No secrets. I got no reason to lie."

"Okay, I believe you." She shrugged.

"She bothering you?"

"Yeah, but nothing I can't handle."

"I'll confront her tomorrow."

"You don't have to, Ronny."

"Apparently I do. End of discussion."

She rolled her eyes and looked out the window. I turned the radio up as Ryan got in the car.

"How was school?" I asked Ryan.
