This world has a problem of epidemic proportion and it's called addiction. I'm sure you know someone if not your self personally who's been affected by addiction.
The problem people face with addiction is thinking that they can escape the addiction without changing their lifestyle patterns or creating a completely new life from what they had been living before.
The addiction is always going to be there however in the new life one has tools to handle addiction more effectively. If you don't create a new life then all of the factors from before that brought you to your addiction are going to catch back up with you.
The same idea can be applied to problems of domestic abuse or self harming behaviors. It's a matter of choosing a new way of living because the old way isn't working. It's making the choice to remain single until you create a new way of living that demands self respect. It's never ok to abuse your partner and it's never ok that one should tolerate abuse either.
Addiction, domestic violence and self harming behaviors will not go away just by simply moving or leaving the relationship. The problem that needs fixed is in the lifestyle choices your making.
The addiction will follow you for the rest of your life even after professional treatment or rehab. You must decide to create a lifestyle that completely removes the old patterns you were living in. You will learn how to spot and recognize your patterns that were creating problems and despair in your life.
The definition of insanity essentially is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. If your problems are a direct result of your patterns and lifestyle choices than create yourself a new live without all the garbage from your past. It's a pretty awesome gift from your self to your new an improved self. A promise to not allow The insanity from your past to ruin anymore of your future.
An interesting fact posted by the CDC in 2015: 91 Americans die every single day from opioid drug overdoses. Over the past 15 years opioid pain killing narcotics sales in the US have not only quadrupled, but have also contributed to a half a million American deaths by way of recreational overdoses. Epidemic is merely understating the severity of this problem with opioid painkillers and prescription medications worldwide. No one knows better than the doctors and pharmaceutical companies just how addictive these substances can be after a few days use. Of course the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies are making billions of dollars off of these drugs that are legal with the swype of a doctor's pen. They will say that they are taking all the necessary steps to educate patients about the dangers of the drugs if they are misused or if they have or have had an addiction to other substances.
I hope your not one of those people who think that it won't happen to you because you've never had a problem with drugs or alcohol. Your the one they want the most. They want your money, they want your insurance card, they want your continued use of any prescribed drug you may have the need for or desire for. I encourage you to seek alternative methods to handle your pain.
