chapter 20 : The loss of a child



5 years later.



-Kitten-



Today was Cheyennes first day of school, we kept her home until she was five because we wanted her to be home schooled but after much begging she finally convinced Xander to allow her into public school.


"Mommy dont look so sad, its only school you know." cheyenne spoke looking up at me, I gave her a soft sad smile and patted her head.

"I know but you're growing up so fast, and you're going to be all alone, what if the other kids are mean to you... You can call me anytime ill come get you.." I began to rant when I  felt the familiar tingles as a pair of arms wrapped around my waist.

"Calm down she will be okay.." Xander soothed as he gently rubbing his thumb in small circles on my hip. I sighed and nodded taking a few deep breaths when the sound of the bus honking outside caught our ears.


"Okay mommy bye!" cheyenne yelled as she ran for the door, Xanders grip tightened on my waist as I made to go after her he held me until the bus began to pull away.


"Shes going to be okay." Xander whispered , i wasnt sure if he was trying to convince me or himself right now.


"I dont like it Xander, she should be home with us." I whispered , I felt him hum in agreement before he picked me up and smirked down at me.

"But now I got you to myself.." he wagged his eyebrows at me before taking off with me in his arms, taking me up to the bedroom he showed me all of the things I had been missing. If only I had known what would happen today, i might not have ignored the phone when it rang while we were making love.

Hopping off the bus at school I smiled to myself, it was so cool here the other kids on the bus were really nice. One girl named Alexis told me how much she liked my house, and now I think we are friends because she sat next to me on the bus.

Waving at her as I walked towards the school she ran towards me smiling holding hands with another girl. "This is Missy shes my friend, this is Cheyenne I met her on the bus." Alexis introduced us and we all giggled talking to each other like long lost friends.


We all made our way into the class room when the teacher came in we automatically set to work. I loved it here in real school, I couldnt wait to tell mommy and daddy how awesome this is and how I made two friends.


A knock sounded at the door and the teacher went outside to speak to a couple of men in suits. When she came back in her face was pale white "C-cheyenne , you need to go with these nice police officers , they have some news for you."


I bit my lip as I nodded my head walking out into the hallway, one of the officers took my hand and began to lead me out of the school "Excuse me Mr. But I cant skip school my mommy will be mad." I whispered , he looked down at me and gave me a sad smile while he squeezed my hand.


Once we were outside they led me to a cop car and put me in the back seat, once they were inside with me the passenger turned around to face me I gasped at the color of his eyes. Red eyes. "Your mom and dad have been in an accident Cheyenne, im sorry their gone.."


The inital shock at the color of his eyes dissapeared into pain, my heart hurt and I didnt understand "M-mommy?" I aked and he nodded sadly. Taking out the cellphone I called the house, the cop noticed and looked back at me worriedly, no one asnwered the phone.


I dropped my cellphone on the floor and curled up on my side on the back seat "My name is Kain and im going to take care of you now, im a werewolf just like you." the officer with red eyes spoke softly, but something inside of me was telling me he was a bad man. I never could have been so right.

At three I was waiting downstairs pacing the floor, Xander came down to stand with me when he felt my anxiety. When the bus drove by and didnt stop Xander looked worried before he rushed down to his office to call the school.


"Yes I was wondering why my daughter Cheyenne didnt come home off the bus today?" Xander asked calmly, i watched as his face paled and he sat back on the seat .


When he hung up the phone he looked up at me with panic and worry "S-someone took Cheyenne, a couple of cops showd up at the school and told the teacher we had died in an accident... Cheyenne she went with them.." Xander spoke quietly.



I felt my knees wobble as I  fell to the floor, picking up the phone I looked at the caller Id to see it was my daughters cell phone that called.

with tears in my eyes I dailed her number and waited "I told you , the games had just begun." A cold voice spoke on the other line, I felt tears stream down my cheeks as he continued "You got to comfterble my dear little pet, I cant wait to see you tonight when you sleep, or have you forgotten." I felt my blood run cold and looked to Xander knowing he could hear it all too well.


"Well baby id love to chat but my new daughter will wake up soon and I have much to teach her, she will make a perfect pet for Sam." Kain quickly disconnected the call, I screamed and tried to redial but it went directly to voice mail.


I started to throw things and scream , I looked simply insane "This is your fault!" I shouted at Xander who looked at me with a pained expression "Im a horrible mother..." I sobbed as I fell to the floor curling up in the fetal posistion.


I felt Xanders arms wrap around me as we lay there crying together, Xander had mind linked Nate to see what they could find but knowing Kain we had lost our baby, he wouldnt be anywhere close by after what happened last time.


My hopes were with the trackers and the warriors of the pack as I felt darkness take me after many hours of tears.
