"What?!?" Adele almost screamed at the top of her lungs as she stood up looking at Alex.

Alex raised his voice and stood up too, getting closer to Adele, "A little quieter, please. Why are you so freaked out?"

"That's my fucking mum!"

"Calm down. This is a really big deal. That means you would be the baby that they were talking about..." Alex looked worried.

Adele burst into to tears and plopped back down on the chair. She covered up her face and kept crying.

"Why wouldn't my mum tell me? I feel crazy! I want my Simon." She sniffed.

Alex rubbed her back, "I can call him if you want."

He sat down and embraced Adele in his arms. He held the phone in his hands and put it on speaker as he called Simon.

"Hey is this Alex?" Simon asked through the phone.

"Yes it is."

He sighed, "Is there something wrong with my baby?"

"In a way, yes. She h-

"Can I talk to her please?" He interrupted.

"Yes, you're on speaker." Alex said as he rolled his eyes. Adele didn't see it though.

"Adele baby listen to me. I can hear you crying. What happened?" he impatiently asked.

She just kept crying. She knew he wasn't going to be able to help her over the phone. She just wanted him with her.

"I'm coming over there." They could hear him get up and then he ended the call.

"He'll be here soon, don't worry."

Adele looked up at Alex for a moment and put her head back down, burying her face in her hands.

"Hey look at me." Alex searched for those beautiful green eyes.

She looked back up and Alex placed his hand on her cheek. She didn't think much of it. Then, he wiped her tears with his thumbs and she smiled a little. Alex moved closer to her and she wondered what he was doing. Before they knew it Simon walked in and he backed away from her.

"Babe!" Adele got up and basically tackled him.

"Woah okay, what happened to you?" He asked with a concerning look on his face.

She grabbed his hand and ushered him to sit down.

Adele and Simon walked out of the office to head home. They were holding hands, and he gripped her hand tighter.

"So, turns out your mum has been keeping this secret this whole time?" he asked.

She placed her free hand on her forehead, "Yes, but why would she keep it from me that long?"

"I'm thinking maybe because she wanted to protect you. Or maybe because she didn't want to seem crazy. Sounds like someone I know." Simon always knew how to make Adele feel better. She smiled a little knowing her mum had felt the same way she's feeling right now.

Just a little different.

"Adele, what are you doing?" Simon inched closer to her. She was on the computer searching for something.

"Trying to do some research on this shadow people shit."

"Can I help?" he asked.

She grinned, "Sure, babe."
