Jaebum worried for days about Youngjae. The day after he'd sent out the invitations reluctantly, he had received no word from Youngjae.
He had left at least a hundred text messages, but no reply. After two days, Jaebum stood at Youngjae's front door step. He had knocked repeatedly to find no answer. He waited an hour for Youngjae.
He continued to wait until dark, until his fiancé called. He felt irritated at her caller ID, he had hoped it was Youngjae.
The call was short. Jaebum was frustrated. She was too, with his need to find Youngjae. Jaebum cut the call off before shoving the phone angrily into his pocket.
"Youngjae!" He repeatedly called and knocked on the door, when he finally noticed a small envelope lying underneath the door frame.
Jaebum bent down and retrieved the envelope. On the front his name was written in Youngjae's hand writing.
He ripped it open, a shred of hope left. However inside was only a key. Jaebum held the key and inserted it into the keyhole of the front door, unlocking it.
The door creaked as it opened and the light from the dim street lights filtered into the dark lifeless passageway.
Jaebum entered the house, calling for Youngjae. He received no reply.
He entered the first room he found, looking for Youngjae, but instead he was greeted with a pile of envelopes. Each was labelled and numbered, the first had "dear jaebum" scribbled onto the front.
Jaebum frowned, but opened it. He continued to read the rest and that was how it lead him to now.
Now he held the last letter in his hand. The rest were strewn across the desk. He tried his best not to destroy the page. The last he'd heard of Youngjae.
He felt his chest tighten again as more tears rolled down his cheeks. The same thought running through his head again and again.
Youngjae, you idiot.
"Why didn't you tell me." Jaebum whispered, his voice breaking.
"And now you're gone." The sentence involuntarily left his lips. As he heard it out loud, he felt the pain which had been dull before. He cried out, falling to his knees and holding the letter to his chest.
Youngjae, you idiot.
Why.
I wanted you to be happy.
I did all of this for you.Jaebum thought, again and again. He had only tried to find love in the hopes he would move on from his romantic feelings towards Youngjae. To stay friends. To not ruin their friendship.
Jaebum could not stop the tears that fell down his face, the pain that he had lost Youngjae killing him.
"Youngjae, I love you too." Jaebum said aloud as he leaned his head on the desk. He wished Youngjae could hear him.

A/N: Thank you to everyone who has read this short little 2jae story. I hope you all enjoyed it (even if it didn't have a happy ending) :)This was my first 2Jae story from start to finish. It sat in my drafts as a completely different idea for a month or so until things happened and this story came.
This was entirely different to anything I had ever attempted to write before, and I hope it was enjoyable regardless. ^^
Thank you again to everyone who read, voted and commented on this little story. ♡
