Selena Gomez ~ Me and my girls

I receive a hard slap on my arm courtesy of Noemy. It's her greeting to me showing up at her house after I got off work. I kinda expected it.

"Ow!" I yelp.

"You had me worried sick you butthole." Noemy scowls. "But I missed you and I'm glad you're finally here."

She engulfs me into a warm tight hug. I inhale and exhale a large amount of air in satisfaction. I've missed my best friend. Being with Noemy makes me feel like at home again. It makes me feel like I haven't completely lifted my feet off the Earth. This part of my life is still normal. And believe me, its a huge part.

"I missed you too, Mimi. Too much." I squeeze her tightly.

"Come on, I'll prepare some coffee." She urges me into her kitchen.

"How's Reese?" I make myself comfortable on the high stool chair of her kitchen bar. I wiggle my feet getting rid of the black heels that I've worn all day. They felt incredibly tight on my feet.

"He's good, working right now. The real question is, who's this Harry person, how did you meet him, where did you meet him, where does he live, who are his parents-"

I roll my eyes letting out an exasperated sigh. "Wanna know his blood type too?"

"If possible and is it compatible with yours?" She pours coffee into a cup while glancing up at me.

Typical Mimi. Obsessive, anxious and straight up paranoid. Have you ever loved someone so much that you want to bubble them up in a shell so nothing happens to them? Well, that's basically what Noemy does to me. She lives in constant fear that something might happen to her loved ones if she doesn't protect them. That sometimes crashes with my adventurous spirit. To say we have fought many times about this, would be an understatement. However, unlike my dad, Noemy makes me feel that she does it because she cares about me. In the end, she always supports me no matter what insane idea I want to go forward with. Of course, after slapping me.

"His name is Harry Styles. He's from England but he lives here. He works at an airport. That's how we met. He lives in an apartment not far from here, like ten minutes maybe." I tap on the granite countertop.

"And how did you meet at the airport?" She sets down two coffee mugs and moves a stool so she is sitting right in front of me.

"We met the day I left my house. I didn't have anywhere to go so I spent the night at the airport." I take a sip of my coffee without breaking eye contact. The steam of the coffee fogs my glasses, which I decided to wear instead of my contacts. The struggle is real.

"You stayed at an airport? Why didn't you just come here?" She wears a confused look on her face.

I stand up from the stool and over to her pantry. I find a box of donuts inside. "Cause. I knew you would just yell at me and send me back home."

"So? You just decided to hop on a plane with a stranger instead?"

I sit on the stool again and open the box of donuts taking the glazed one with nuts on top. "It's not as crazy as it sounds."

"Skylynn, something could've happened to you." Mimi says now in a more calm tone.

"I know. But I trust my instincts. And my instincts told me that Harry was good." I take a bite of my donut savoring the soft texture and sweet taste.

"Instincts? Really?" Noemy looks at me with an 'are you kidding me' face.

"Yes. Animals make their decisions and move according to instincts and they are perfectly fine."
