Daya~ Sit still, Look pretty
"Yes, I'm fine."
"Are you serious, Sky? You have me worried sick. I haven't slept. I've been looking everywhere for you. Where are you?" My mom blasts into the speaker of my phone.
"I'm somewhere safe. I'm fine. I'm fed. I slept well, and you have nothing to worry about." I assure her. I'm still mad at her for not sticking up for me during the fight with Dad. I was really counting on her.
"Are you kidding me? Skylynn, tell me where you are."
"I'm still alive, mom. Isn't that what matters?" I sigh.
"Skylynn! I'm being serious. Don't give me attitude young lady. Me and your dad are very worried. Tell me where you are."
"In America still. Unfortunately."
My mom gives out an exasperated sigh. "What were you thinking, Skylynn? Storming off like that. You can't just do that. You can't just walk away from your problems."
"Watch me." I challenge. Oh my gosh, what is happening to me? I would never answer my mom like that. I was raised better. But honestly, I am so mad and offended and straight up sad. I'm not a little girl anymore and I hate that they still want to boss me around. I'm an adult. I don't have to answer to my parents anymore. Not when all they do is hate.
"Skylynn! Watch your mouth miss. That was so disrespectful. You know better. Stop thinking with your emotions and start thinking with common sense and logic. You're letting yourself get carried away by your anger." She says into the phone furious.
"Yeah, well, it's my problem now." I answer.
"No, you think you can just do whatever you want without-"
"Look, mom. I know. I know, okay? But I just need some time to myself. Let me be who I want. Let me live please. I'm sick and tired of my dad. I don't want all that negativity in my life anymore. Just respect that." I tell her.
"He loves you, Sky. He loves you and just wants what's best for you. I know he loses it and I understand that. I know he shouldn't have exploded like that and offend you-"
"But he did. And you let him. So now I'm going to spend sometime alone and you're going to let me. Please."
"Honey, I-"
"Look, mom. I'm busy and have some stuff to do, okay? I'll talk to you later."
"Sky-"
"Bye mom. Love you." I say and hang up.
I take a very, very deep breath and put my phone away. I still feel a bit guilty for treating her like that. For leaving without a clue as to where I'm going. However, I am more determined than ever to do me. To be Skylynn Rivera...Harry from the airport's travel buddy. Oh man, what have I gotten myself into?
I open my lap top and start searching for apartments. Living in Oregon, the apartments aren't too expensive but they aren't too cheap either. I have to learn how to manage my finances now that I'm living alone. I want to save up money for a camera because all I have for now is my polaroid and my phone. How can I become a photographer if I don't have a camera?
So I search and search and search some more. Until its been three hours and I still find nothing. All of them are either too big or too expensive or far away from my job. The pictures don't convince me either. They don't seem that legit. I slouch in the McDonald's chair, scrolling through websites and ads but nothing convinces me. I start worrying they might kick me out of this place for abusing of free Wifi and not consuming anything because all I bought was a 99 cent dip cone. Ronald McDonald's creepy smiling face is starting to creep me out too. I feel judged now.
