Lilli walked out of the restrooms, on her way outside. The day was over, and her friends were leaving. She rushed through the crowds, making a mental check list. She had her passport, her wallet, her phone. She'd remembered everything. She saw her friends at their car, waving to her through the glass walls. She checked her bag a last time, checking her passport, making sure she hadn't swapped it when she was getting in. She needed it for the plane ride back to Australia in two days. She finished up, waved back at her friends and lost concentration, and bumped into someone.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Lilli apologised as she picked up the man's papers.
"No, it's fine, I should've looked where I was going," he replied as she looked up at him. She recognised his face all too well. She'd watched his YouTube channel for so long, knew his intro music off by heart. She could even recite his entire Five Nights at Freddie's "Who is Purple Guy" episode!
"M-MatPat?" she asked, his face beaming.
"Yes, it's me. Not some random trying to keep you. So, you're a loyal theorist?" She couldn't believe it. She was talking to her all time favourite YouTuber, who wasn't even scheduled to be here. His demeanour was different to his average smile and twinkling eyes in his live shows. He looked somewhat puzzled at her, as if he knew something she didn't.
"Yes, I am, and-" she looked out at her friends again, who were waving more frantically. Lilli picked up the rest of Mat's papers.
"Sorry, I'd best be off. My friends are waiting outside. I'm Lilli, by the way," she continued. His face became more contorted, as if he'd been told the most conflicting piece of information. She picked up her bag, and waved goodbye. She made her way out to the car, greeting her friends.
"So, how was it? You meet any hot guys?" asked Becky as she flipped her blonde hair off her shoulder.
"C'mon, you Nimrod!" Jessica said as she looked up from her phone, nudging Becky in the arm. Darren rested his elbow on Becky's shoulder as he leaned forward.
"No, really, how was it?" he asked, grinning. Lilli laughed, and sat in the back seat of Becky's SUV next to Darren.
"It was fine. Phil was there, so yes to hot guys. Zoe was there, and so was Alfie, JackSepticEye, Dan and the Hillywood Show. C'mon, how could they not after their Suicide Squad parody? And Dodie performed on the main stage with Thomas! It was fantastic!" she concluded. Becky rolled her eyes, and started the car.
"Yeah, sorry I had to bail early, I forgot we needed to rehearse today for the auditions. But Dodie was amazing!" replied Jessica.
"Wait!" someone yelled from outside the car. Everyone in the car looked out to see who was coming.
"What the heck?" asked Jessica, sweeping loose curls from her eyes. The man came to the back window where Lilli was sitting and knocked. Beck put down her window.
"MatPat? What are you-"
"Did you accidentally pick up one of my papers? It's for a theory I'm working on, and I can't find it," he asked. Lilli picked up her bag, and rummaged through it. She found a few loose papers at the top, along with a folder. She picked them out and handed them to him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see I picked them up," she apologised as Mat placed each piece of paper meticulously into the heap he was holding.
"No, it's fine. What did you say your name was again?" He asked, Jessica and Becky both looking at the scene going on in the back of the car.
"Lilli," She replied, slightly fangirling, her voice reaching a strangely high pitch. Mat gave her a warm grin, and placed all his papers into his backpack.
"Well, happy travels!" he replied as he walked off. Darren put a hand on Lilli's shoulder, and she turned to face him.
"Was that the dude from that live stream you always watch?" he asked. Lilli smiled again, and looked out the window. She remembered that moment in the foyer, when they collided. It was fate they actually met.
"Thank god I double checked my passport," Lilli sighed. He friends laughed, and drove back to their hotel.
Hey guys!
This fic is one I was thinking really hard about, cause I really wanted this one to work out well. I had absolutely no idea how to write something like this, cause I always focus on romance, so please forgive me for this being absolutely terrible at certain plot points!
