Lilli stood out the front of the Starbucks she'd been in hours before. It was nearly five o'clock, and Becky was late to pick her up. She looked back down at her phone, and Jessica finally picked up.
"Hello?" Jessica asked.
"Hey Jess, look, I'm sorry for before, I was a bit apprehensive, but it's all good now," Lilli started.
"Where are you? You said you'd get a cab, is everything alright?"
"Crap! I forgot, can you get Becky to come get me now? I need to get back to the hotel,"
"Why? Did something happen, are you okay?" Jessica asked, her voice quavering.
"No, I'm fine. I'm outside the same Starbucks you guys dropped me off at earlier. Any news on your audition?"
"None yet, we'll all know if we got in or not in a week to ten days. And we're on our way, see you soon," Jessica hung up, and Lilli put her phone back in her pocket. She looked out to the crowded streets, remembering walking them with MatPat earlier.
They went all around town, finding a nice pizza place to have lunch, and then FaceTime with Stephanie for a while. She was glad to find Lilli again, and Lilli was so glad to finally have loving parents.
She picked up her phone and went to call her adoptive mother. She held her thumb over the contact, but failed to press it. Lilli wanted more than anything to be rid of them, to never go back. But she still had all her friends, her school. She'd be leaving her life behind for this one.
Lilli put her phone away before she did something she'd regret. She looked over to her left, and found a garden of some description with a cinderblock garden edge. She sat on the edge, knowing it could be ages for her friends to turn up in the heavy afternoon traffic.
She sat on the garden edge for a while, just thinking. A few people gave her strange glances, and one or two asked if she was okay. She brushed it off, not really caring about anything else. She was still trying to process the whole day's events.
So, she started. She met MatPat the day before, and then he got into contact with her via tweet, which was uncommon for him. Then, he asks to meet her, and then tells her she's his daughter?
She looked at the cracks in the pavement slowly fill with water as in started to rain. Each drop of rain that fell down symbolised each tear that ever fell from her face. She was always so sad, and depressed, no matter what. Her "parents" fighting and arguing over nothing, her friends at school being harsh over her obsessions, her favourite YouTuber not uploading when they said they were going to.
A car horn beeped and echoed over the street. Lilli looked up, and saw Becky and Jessica in the front of the car. She stood up from the garden edge and ran over to the car. She opened the back seat, and jumped in, her hair soaked.
"How was it?" asked Jessica, looking into the back seat.
"It was... definitely something. I'll explain everything back at the hotel. It's a long story," she replied as she looked over to the empty seat beside her.
"Where's Darren?"
"He's at the hotel, waiting for us. We're helping you two pack efficiently, and booking a room for the night." Lilli glanced out of the window at the streams of rain. She wanted to tell them now, but she still couldn't accumulate the words to tell them her favourite YouTuber was actually her father.
She had to keep quiet, at least for now.
