Lilli sat on the edge of her hotel bed. Jessica was already in the other bed, fast asleep. Lilli looked out the windows of the room at the rain still falling heavily. She looked down at her phone, her glasses falling off the bridge of her nose.
MatPat: "So, you aren't going back?"
Lilli: "No, I'm not. I've told my other parents that I'm staying here to finish school, and live here. All my stuff's here, which consists of a phone, laptop, wallet and clothes. Those guys never got me anything, not even on my birthdays. But y'know."
MatPat: "All the more reason for you to stay. Can we meet up at the same Starbucks so I can take you to ours? Bring your stuff, BTW."
Lilli: "Sure thing. I'll have to talk to Jess, Darren and Becky, though. I have to say goodbye to Jessica before she goes back home. She's the closest thing I've had to a friend in a very long time."
MatPat: "Totally understand. See you tomorrow, Lil."
She turned off her phone, and crawled under the covers of the hotel bed for one last night. One last night being clueless about everything. Tomorrow, she thought, will be the day that everything is fine for once.
Lilli drifted soundly into slumber, her mind completely blanking as her head hit the pillow. She was dreaming soon after, of some fantasy world. It was a large family at a dining table. There were a few teenage children, an elderly couple, and many middle aged people. No matter age or gender, all were laughing; everyone was happy. One she recognised as herself, just much older. She was sat down at the table with Darren and Jessica. There was another man that stood out, but she didn't recognise him. There were countless other men and women swarming around the table. One of the three teenagers looked eerily like Lilli did, yet with much darker hair, and was stockier built. The others resembled MatPat, but both were girls, and had blue eyes. The focus of the scene was suddenly blurred, and focused on the elderly couple. It was Mat and Stephanie. They smiled at each other, and looked at Lilli across the table.
Lilli sat up in a cold sweat in the hotel room, and looked over to Jessica. Grey light was seeping into the room, and Jessica stirred slightly. She lay back down, and slipped her glasses on. She unlocked her phone, and checked her twitter. She hadn't many notifications, quite like normal. She scrolled through all her favourite YouTuber's profiles, checking they hadn't released any new videos while she was away yesterday. There was one or two; a cover song by Dodie and another Spring beauty tutorial by Zoe.
She scrolled past each one, seeming oblivious to their prior importance in her life. She still pondered about her vivid dream. Pondering what it would be like to have a real family. Being able to have people who support her, and love her. Who saw her off to her first day of school. Teach her everything she needed to know to live in this big bad world. To be there for her when she's sad. Well, to just be there for her. But she didn't need to worry any longer.
She was soon going to have Mat and Steph. She was soon going to have those parents she'd always wanted; always needed. She suddenly snapped out of her dazed state as Jess started yawning from her side of the room. Lilli smiled as she looked over to her friend.
This is it, she thought. The last normal day she'd ever have.
