AUTHORS NOTE:
This chapter contains a lot of private messaging, so to clarify that 1) It's a message and not someone speaking and 2) Who's typing what, I've highlighted the person's name next to the dialogue. The will happen in a few other chapters, so remember this. Also, I don't know the geography of California or America in general, I'm Australian. Thanks :D
"Good luck, Jess!" exclaimed Lilli as she waved goodbye to her friend. Becky and Darren both waved goodbye as well, but they still remained in the car. Jessica waved back, then turned to sign herself in. So many other people, from thirteen year olds to people who must've been in their twenties, were there to audition as well. Lilli hopped back in the car, next to Darren in the back.
"Hope she gets in. Can't have an unsuccessful cousin," Becky started as she looked at Jess from afar.
"Well, we didn't come all this way to get dunked on," Lilli replied as she took her phone out of her pocket. They were ten minutes early, so they didn't have to leave in a hurry. Becky and Darren did the same, both opening their phones. Lilli and Jessica were lucky they had friends in America to drive them around. Jessica and Becky were cousins, and Darren was Lilli's friend from over the Internet. They'd all been planning that trip for around a year, and it was nearly over. They just had to get through the audition, then pack and go on a plane back home.
Lilli's phone suddenly chirped, Becky turning back from the drivers seat. Darren looked up from his phone onto Lilli's screen.
"Who'd be tweeting you? All your friends are here and Jess is in there," he smirked. Lilli opened Twitter, and put her glasses back on. It was a reply to one of her comments.
MatPat: "Oh, you're Lilli! Well, can you PM me?"
"No way, he asked you to private message him? Is that a troll account?" asked Darren, who watched his videos as much as she did. She clicked on the name 'MatPat' and it took her straight to the page she was just on. It was the real MatPat. She immediately private messaged him.
Lilli: "Hey again, Mat. Why'd you ask me to PM you?"
He replied almost immediately.
MatPat: "This may sound strange, or unexpected, but can I ask your last name?"
Lilli: "My full name is Lilli Whitney Patrick. Why you ask?"
There was a pause of about three minutes before his reply, Lilli trying hard not to completely lose her cool in the car.
MatPat: "That's a nice name. Could we, maybe, meet up sometime?"
She lost it. She started to hyperventilate as she waved her hands frantically in front of her face, soon coming to rest over her mouth as she took deep breaths in between slight screams. Darren started chuckling to himself as he looked at what Lilli was on about. Becky looked back at Darren, and he showed her the phone screen.
"No way! Good on you! You're gonna meet MatPat!" exclaimed Darren, giving Lilli a slight pat on the back. She removed her hands from her mouth and replied.
Lilli: "Sure thing! Where at?"
"You're not actually going, are you?" asked Becky.
"Of course I am. I couldn't give up this opportunity!" Lilli exclaimed.
MatPat: "Maybe at a cafe' or somewhere similar. I've got a theory to consult, and thought it might be a good idea to consult with a fan before I submit it."
Lilli: "Sounds great. How about the Starbucks on 35th Avenue?" She wrote as she remembered passing it on the way to the auditions.
MatPat: "Sounds fine to me. I'm still in California, so how about later today?" Lilli leaned forward to Becky in the front seat.
"Yes, Lilli?" Becky sarcastically asked.
"Can you drop me off somewhere in an hour or two?" Lilli asked. She was her only ride around the country, and couldn't afford cabs everywhere.
"Sure. Where to?"
"35th Avenue. It was the main road we passed with the Starbucks on it, and the dude dressed as a statue," Lilli replied eagerly.
"Fine. So, when are you meeting him? Is it a date?" she asked, suddenly half interested in their conversation.
"He's already married, dude," Darren interrupted. Lilli smiled.
"He asked to 'consult a theory' with me, and he said we'd meet up sometime today," Lilli couldn't the words coming out of her mouth. She was meeting MatPat, and consulting a theory. She loved his theories, and she even sent one of her own for his side channel once.
"Sounds good. How long is Jessica going to be in there?" Becky asked, checking the time on her phone.
"Another hour, at least. You could drop me off early, and then pick Jess up," Lilli suggested, typing back to Mat.
Lilli: "I'll be there in less than an hour, if that's okay? A friend's just in an audition."
MatPat: "Okay, cool. See you then."
"Well, no time to loose. Lilli, you're about to meet MatPat! Good luck," Darren started as he put his seatbelt back on. Becky started the car, and they drove back to the hotel.
