Chapter 21

Recap

Johanna's POV

Gale and I sit on the opposite side of the parking lot from Peeta and Katniss. "Um...hi", Gale says in a shy voice and I roll my eyes. " What made you guys come here and spy on their date?", I ask. " Oh, um.... you know, we just wanted to see if Finnick would embarrass himself". " I think that you are embarrassing yourself right now", I tell him and he blushes.

There is a moment of awkward silence, "um, would you like to um..... go on a date with me?" I turn my attention from Finnick and Annie and think for a second, " if you stop mumbling I will". "So, you will go on a date with me?", he says without mumbling. I sigh, " ugh fine", and turn back to Finnick and Annie. I notice that they are carrying their stuff and walking in our direction......

Crap.

Katniss' POV

Peeta and I are talking about plans for our next 'date' when I turn back to Finnick and Annie and notice that they are walking in our direction. Peeta doesn't notice this and continues our conversation so I smack him on the shoulder to get his attention. " Shit, what was that for?", he whispers and I point in Finnick and Annie's direction. His eyes grow big. We must have read each other's mind because we both run to Johanna and Gale at the same time. " Guys! They are coming this way!", I say in a harsh whisper. " No shit sherlock", wow thanks Johanna.

"What do we do", Gale says. "Duck and run!" I say and grab Peeta's hand and we all run to the other side of the parking lot and run out of the exit and down the road, thankful that there are no cars going down the road at the moment. I look back and see Finnick and Annie both looking at each other as they walk forward, oblivious to the fact that their friend's cars are in the parking lot in front of them.

I can't hear what they say to each other, but like birds, they suddenly change course and turn towards the beach cafe and walk in that direction. The four of let out a sigh of relief and it is only now that I realize that I'm still holding Peeta's hand. I awkwardly let go and Peeta gives an awkward cough, "well that was a close one". "You all just love to be Caption Obvious don't ya", say Johana with an eye roll. I reply, " no, I prefer to be Sherlock actually", this earns me a laugh from everyone but Johanna. " I think we should make a run for it before they come back and also you know... before we get hit by a car", Gale says. " Good thinking", Peeta says and leads the way back down the road to the parking lot.

When we get to the parking lot, I go to walk towards me and Johanna's car when Peeta places his hand on my shoulder, "I'll text you later". I smile and nod and we head our separate ways. Why is my heart pounding so fast? He is just some surfer that I met a few days ago, why is he having this effect on me? Does it happen to him too?

We have no idea how long Finnick and Annie will be at the cafe so when we get home we immediately change into the PJs that we were wearing before, grab some popcorn and put on a movie.

Annie comes homes about a half hour later and comes into the living room with us. "The date was wonderful, Finnick was such a gentlemen. He is funny and sweet and nice and thoughtful and hot and caring and oh did I mention HOT!" Annie rambles and dramatically falls onto the couch with a gasp. "What did you guys do?", I reply, " oh um we just sat here and watched a movie like how we said we were, and as you can see we still are." Annie shrugs, "ok". Johanna decides to open her big mouth, " so how was the beach cafe?"

"How do you know that we went to the beach cafe?", Johanna pauses and now it's my turn to finally give her the death glare today," oh um....lucky guess? Everyone goes there". Nice save Johanna. "Oh it was fine, it just has the usual stuff", Annie walks upstairs.

I throw one of the couch pillows at Johanna, " and you call me brainless"." Relax, just a little slip-up, no harm done." I sigh, "you're lucky, I had to hold myself back from doing some harm to you." We turn back to the movie and I let out a sigh, our mission was successful.
