Chapter 20

" KATNISS KATNISS KATNISS GUESS WHAT!!" Annie says while jumping on my bed like a kid on Christmas morning. " What Annie", I groan. " I'M GOING TO THE BEACH TODAY WITH FINNICK!!!!" I attempt to kick Annie off my bed and shove my head under my pillow," congratulations".

" I need you to help me pick out my outfit. If Johanna helps me she will give me her tiniest bikini and I don't want Finnick to think that I want to get into his pants, notthatIwouldmindthatbut--". "Annie, I will help you. Just give me five minutes". Annie skips out of my room and says,"love you". I have no idea how she has so much energy this early, 'what time does it say?' I roll over and look at my alarm clock and I see 7:30 flashing on the clock,

" ANNIE!!"

" Ok so which bathing suit, " Annie says while she puts a red, a green and a teal bathing suit on her bed". I don't have to think before I say,  " teal" because that color looks great on her. She opens her closet, " what should I wear on top?" I pick out a loose white lacy shirt and jean shorts.

"Thanks Kat" Annie says and I nod. " How was your date with Peeta?" I smile while thinking about last night," It was very nice. We went to the beach cafe and went for a walk on the beach afterward at sunset." Annie says," Wow, that was pretty romantic for a first date". I blush, it was a pretty romantic first date, I hope that it won't be the last. Annie goes into her bathroom to change and get ready. Annie comes out in her outfit and she has her hair in a high ponytail.

" Are you meeting up with him or is he picking you up?" I ask. " He is picking me up". I nod and I leave her to finish getting ready.

Annie's POV

I can't wait to go on a date with Finnick. The second that I saw him I knew that I was interested in getting to know him. After I finish getting ready I head downstairs to the living room where Johanna and Katniss are watching tv. " What are you guys going to do today?" I ask. Johanna shrugs, " probably just stay here and watch a movie". I hear a knock at the door.

" Finnick is here!", I squeal quietly and calm myself as I walk to the door. I open the door to find Finnick wearing red swim trunks and a white tank top.
Damn.

" Hey", he says, " ready to go?". I nod because I am too nervous to talk. He leads me to his car and opens the door for me, ' such a gentlemen', I think to myself.

Johanna's POV

I turn to Katniss, " do you want to go spy on their date?" Katniss looks at me like I'm crazy, " are you fucking serious?" I give her the ' duh!' look and she sighs, " let's do it".

Johanna and I jump in the car and head to the beach, but before we get there we stop at one of those touristy stores by the beach and buy two pairs of binoculars. What? Did you expect us to spy without the proper equipment? We park in one of the back corners of the parking lot and crawl along the perimeter of the parking lot which is lined with bushes. We located Finnick and Annie towards the middle of the beach. " Targets have been spotted ", Johanna whispers as if she is in the FBI.
We adjust our binoculars till we can see Finnick and Annie clearly, they are both walking towards the water, " things are about to get wet" Johanna says in a creepy tone and I smack her.
We watch them swim around and talk for a little bit and long story short they are adorable. They start walking back towards us so we put our binoculars down.

Annie's POV

The date is going great so far, Finnick is a great guy. When we got to the beach and Finnick immediately wanted to go into the water, I think that he is part fish. We spent some time splashing and playing in the water, but most of the time we were talking and getting to know each other.

" How are you liking California?" he asks and I sigh," I love it." There is a moment of silence before he asks, " did Katniss tell you anything about Peeta?" . I laugh, " it took awhile but we got it out of her." He smiles, " if you ask me, I think that he is head over heals for her", I respond, " I could say the same for Katniss". We both laugh, " enough about them, tell me about yourself", I say. " Well, as you know my name is Finnick Odair, I am 19 years old and I work at my parent's surf shop along with Gale and Peeta. I'm actually training to become a  professional surfer". ' Wow, can he get any cuter?', I think to myself.

" What about you, Miss Annie?", he says. " My name is Annie Cresta, I'm 18 years old, and I want to become a marine biologist", I say and he looks impressed. We talk for a little long until we decide to get out of the water. As we are walking back to our towels I see movement behind the bushes around the parking lot, I spot a thick brown braid. ' Is that Katniss?', I think for a moment , but I quickly get that idea out of my head because that is not possible. We lay down on our blankets and continue to get to know each other.

Katniss' POV

Johanna and I watch them for a little long until I notice the bushes move a few feet down from us, I get Johanna's attention. We watch the bushes move around for a few minutes until we hear the bushes talk. We give each other the ' wtf was that look' and continue listening. Finally, we hear "Peeta! stop moving they are going to see us" somebody says in a loud whisper. Wait, is that Gale and Peeta? "The only thing that they are going to hear is you talking", Peeta replies in a harsh whisper. I guess that we aren't the only people spying on this date. " Should we go up to them?" I ask and she sighs, then nods.

We crawl along the edge of the bushes until we reach Peeta and Gale's hiding spot, they are focused on Annie and Finnick so they don't hear us sneaking up on them. " What are you guys doing?" They jump in shock, "holy shit! What are you guys doing here?", Gale says in a harsh whisper. "Based on the fact that you are hiding in the bushes, I am going to assume that you guys are here for the same reason that we are. You guys are spying on Finnick and Annie's date." Peeta and Gale look at each other and sigh.

We agree to split up onto opposite sides of the parking lot, Peeta and I on one side and Gale and Johanna on the other. We watch for a few minutes before Peeta says, " I really enjoyed our date". I nod, " me too, I,um, would like to go out again sometime". Peeta smiles, " you must have read my mind".

Johanna's POV

Gale and I sit on the opposite side of the parking lot from Peeta and Katniss. "Um...hi",Gale says in a shy voice and I roll my eyes. " What made you guys come here and spy on their date?", I ask. " Oh, um.... you know, we just wanted to see if Finnick would embarrass himself". " I think that you are embarrassing yourself right now", I tell him and he blushes.

There is a moment of awkward silence, "um, would you like to um..... go on a date with me?" I turn my attention from Finnick and Annie and think for a second, " if you stop mumbling I will". "So, you will go on a date with me?", he says without mumbling. I sigh, " ugh fine", and turn back to Finnick and Annie. I notice that they are carrying their stuff and walking in our direction......

Crap.
