Chapter 17

Savannah Pov

"You're a really good kisser." James says as I pull away from him gently staring back at him across from me on my bed. He grabs my waist and pulls me over to him, laying me on his chest as he strokes my hair. I never would have thought to find myself in this position that fateful night I met the player. I felt myself at ease as I cuddle beside him. It was a month since he had asked me out  and I found myself happier than I had ever been before. 

"Can I tell you something?" I swirl my fingers gently on his arm, playing with his blonde hairs that shine through the sun peering out of my window.

"Go ahead babe." James kisses my forehead which oddly sends shivers down my spine. I find myself cuddling up to him even closer, hearing his heart beat pound softly through his shirt. The connection I felt when I lay next to him was something I had never felt before.

"I never would have thought that I would end up with you. Like, you were such a jerk that night we met. I often think what made you change."

"Well to be honest, you." I lift my head up to look back at him, he wasn't doing that cocky smirk he would've done when I first met him. Instead, he had a genuine smile spread across his face.

"What do you mean?"

"Let me tell you something, Savannah." I laid my head back on his chest as we both stared up at my white ceiling of the dorm room. "When I met you, I didn't know I needed you. When I found out that I did need you, I knew that I had to pursue you and never let go. You were truly something special. You entered my life for a reason and made me the best version of myself." He strokes my soft hair gently and I close my eyes wishing I could replay that over and over again. "I know it hasn't been that long Savannah, but I love you." He tells me proudly. 

"I love you too, James." I tell him back as I feel him squeeze me tightly. 

"I want you to meet my mom." 

"No I would feel bad." I pause and then continue "My family is back in Kentucky and I'm not sure when you'd be able to meet them."

"We have plenty of time but I think you'll really love her. She's one of the sweetest women I know, well after you of course."

I chuckle slightly. "You're so sweet."

"Well it's true. You showed me a different side to life that I never knew was possible. I thank you for that, Savannah." I never knew that I could be that happy with a person until I met James. Everything he did and said made me love him a little bit more than I did before. Having him care and wanting me to meet his family like this really made me feel happy to be with him.

"So when did you want me to meet her?"

"How about a couple of days from now. Tomorrow I have a couple of tests and I'm going to look for a part time job." I pan my eyes over to him.

"When did that come about?"

"Well I figured I'm old enough and in college, It's time for me to show some responsibility." He chuckles into my hair and kisses my forehead as we doze off into a nap.
