Camila's POV

I opened the screen door for her as she smiled and walked past me still carrying the heavy boxes. I followed behind her and took in my first view of the inside of the house. So beautiful. For a farm house it had a pretty open feel and not too many walls covering my sight line.

The staircase leading up to the upstairs area was the first thing I saw when I walked in. To the left of that was what seemed to be a living room and kitchen beyond that.

I took it in all at once, overflowing my senses but quickly got over it when I remembered I was supposed to be following Lauren as she was already near the top of the stairs.

"Well come on up, your room is just down the hall here," she said while disappearing beyond the stairs. I quickened my pace upstairs and walked down the small hall, looking at the line of family pictures all hung up. I admired Lauren's effort in keeping her family on display for everyone to see. She must be close to them, I hope she treasures them as much as possible.

I soon hurried into the room I saw Lauren enter into a second before.

"Wow," I breathed out as I stepped into the quaint yet comfortable room I would be staying in. A queen sized bed placed in the corner of the room and small decorative couch in the other corner. The best part was the sunshine that lit up the entire room.

"I know it's not the best but the other two guest rooms are filled with my family's old boxes or being used as an office, I hope it'll do the trick though," Lauren said looking around the room after setting down the boxes and placing her hands in her back pockets, rocking back and forth slightly on her feet.

"No it's wonderful, I can't believe the view from in here either," I said placing down my suit case and walked over to the window seat, sitting down. I took in the astounding view of crop fields that seemed to go on for miles, the sun setting behind them, shining on my face.

"It's almost better than the view in my room so you're pretty lucky," Lauren said chuckling under her breath.

"I've already fallen in love with this house and I haven't even been here for 20 minutes."

"Well I'm glad you like it. I'm gonna go back downstairs and get the rest of your things from outside. You just get comfy ok?"

"Oh ok thank you," I said looking back at her as she flashed a smile and walked out the room.

"No problem," I heard her yell from the hallway before laughing softly which made me smirk.

"I wonder what she thinks of me," I thought to myself as I looked back out the window getting my mind used to the sight I beheld as a wave of relaxation fell over my body. I felt at home even though I knew I wasn't.

I decided to help her with some of my stuff since she was already so nice to me and it was my stuff after all. I would feel guilty making her carry up all my things alone. I got up walking back into the small hallway.

After trudging down the stairs, I was about to open the front door when I noticed Lauren standing over some boxes and things she was about to carry inside. She was looking down at something that was inside one of my boxes.

I squinted a bit to see what she was holding softly in her two palms as if she was afraid not to drop it. It was a picture frame that I recognized as an old family photo taken around the time I was 16. I looked back up at her face noticing she was smiling and rubbing the side of the frame with her thumb.

I wondered why she seemed so touched by the picture. The photo honestly embarrassed me usually because it was during that awkward phase where zits popped up around my face and my cheeks were chubby.

I decided to walk outside and see what'd she do. As she heard the screen door creak open, she quickly placed the frame back into the box and closed it up.

"What were you looking at there?" I asked already knowing the answer.

"Um just... just a photo of your family. It looks so perfect," she explained looking up at me.

"Thank you but no family's perfect, trust me."

Her face suddenly changed from expressing embarrassment to a look of curiosity.

I felt the need to change the subject so instead offered to help with whatever's left.

"Uh yeah sure, just that table lamp and two bags. I'll bring up these last couple of boxes for you and then get dinner started," she said picking up the stack, "hope ya like steak and corn."

"oh yum, I do thank you," I replied eagerly, my mouth starting to get watery.

"Not a problem Camila," she chuckled, repeating those words, making me realize I've said thanks too many times. She's just so nice and generous all the time. I'm usually the one giving and I appreciate being taken care of. She has this effect on me I can't explain, it feels nice.

I picked up the stuff and carried it inside and up to my room. Lauren was still in there moving the boxes to the side of the room and out of the way until I planned to unload them.

"I guess that's all of it. Take your time to get settled and I'll start the grill," she said looking at me as I suddenly noticed just how vibrant green her eyes were with the setting sun's glare shining directly on her face. Wow, what an mesmerizing sight to behold.

I was snapped out my thoughts as she brushed against me to get out the door, placing her hand on my arm as to guide me to the side for her to get by. Her touch was so gentle even though her hands were muscular. I guess that's what makes her such a good farmer.

She flashed me the same calming smile she had before as she left the room and walked down the hall, presumably to start dinner.

A/N:

That was kind of a slow chapter and I'm sorry, but next chapter will begin to show Lauren's side to all this so you just hang in there.
