Camila's POV
"Come on, I won't believe you're good if you don't play me anything," the older girl said still holding out the guitar for me to take.
This thing is. I loved playing guitar. It was freeing and my emotions just flowed when I played. But I'm not super confident in myself and would rather not embarrass myself in front of my newest friend who I'll have to spend 3 months with.
"Well I'm not good, so I'm gonna pass. Why don't you play me something Ms.Confidence over here," I said starting to pressure her the way she did to me.
"Maybe another day when the guitar's not acting up."
"What? Are you kidding me? It's a guitar and not even electrical. What could possibly be wrong with it all of a sudden?"
"I don't know it looks a little sickly," she said inspecting the guitar a little closer then looking up at me with a smile.
"You're honestly ridiculous," I said rolling my eyes smirking and watching her set down the guitar.
"Have you ever been to a real hoe-down before?" she asked out of the blue.
"No. Are you joking? Those are real?"
"Yeah," she said getting excited. "They're so fun. I'd never been to one before I came up here either but they have them every Friday night down at a bar in town. You want to go?" she asked.
"I don't know, I'm not the best dancer. I might hurt myself or others around me."
"I promise you'll get the hang of it easy. Come on you'll have a great time I promise," she encouraged me.
"Okay sure," I finally said to relieve her excitement.
"Awesome! Maybe we'll see Ally there too."
"Who's Ally," I asked intrigued.
"She's one of my friends. I guess really my only true friend. She's helped me out on the farm a couple times to get the hang of it when I started out. She owns some land a little the the West of here. More towards town."
"So she farms too?"
"Yeah, except she's been doing it for longer so always got to her for assistance and trust me, sometimes I need it," she joked. I liked it when she joked. It made me feel comfortable knowing she wasn't some cold robot and an actual human being. She was somewhat funny too.
"Does she have a family?" I asked.
"Yeah she's married to her husband Troy and they have three children. Two daughters Lily and Anna and their newest addition, little baby Winston. Lily's the oldest, five years old if I remember right. Anna is three years old and Winston just got to his seven months mark," she gushed with love in her eyes which was obvious.
"Aww I love babies so much," I said holding my hand over my heart as a way to contain my love for children.
"I do too. Someday I'd want some," she quieted when she admitted the last part. I couldn't tell why but I agreed with her.
I guess I always saw children in my future. Just the idea of raising a tiny ball of innocence and curiosity made my heart warm. They're this beautiful reflection of you and the person you want more than anything else in the world. Something to feel the mass amounts of endless love given to them from only two people. What could be better than that?
I wonder if she felt that too.
"So what's the plan for the rest of the night?" I asked.
"Nothing much, and I guess now it's too late to show you how to work some of the machinery. That's boring anyways so I could get dinner started and maybe later we could watch a movie?" she asked.
