Lauren's POV

As the night was coming to a close I decided to tell my newest guest what the plans were for tomorrow.

"Tomorrow I thought I'd start you out slow and have you just come with me to town and pick up a couple things. Then later I guess I could show you around the farm a little bit, giving you an idea of what I do almost daily," I explained to her as she helped me clean up the table.

"Sounds great. I really like being here so far," she said setting down the plate she just dried off and stepping closer to me. I suddenly felt nervous for some reason and shifted in my stance as she looked into my eyes, locking me in.

"I'm glad you're not some crooked old man or family of twelve who took me in instead. I think I'm going to really like it here, I already am enjoying myself," she continued now with her hand holding onto my arm lightly squeezing it.

She was still looking at me as though there was something in my eyes she was trying to read. My breathing was different now, I could feel it, but can't stop it.

All of a sudden she took her hand off my arm after standing there for what felt like hours, and began to walk out of the kitchen.

"I'm getting really tired so I think I'll head to sleep," she spoke up turning back around to look at me before I realized I hadn't finished showing her around the house. I quickly broke out of the tiny coma I just experienced

"Oh wait, I'll show you where the bathroom is and everything in case you need it for some reason," I said trying to make her laugh.

I quickly set down the other plates on the table and ran behind her, following her upstairs. Once we got to the top of the stairs I showed her the master bedroom where I slept, the office, then came hers, and finally the bathroom at the end of the hallway.

"So that's basically it for what's up here, if you want I could show you downstairs too, but there's not much else besides the garage and outside barn."

"If I could, I'll pass because I'm quite tired but I'll be happy to continue this tour tomorrow," she said before yawning and rubbing one of her eyes.

"Oh sure, totally fine. Do you need anything else before I leave you be?" I asked.

"No I don't think so. See you in the morning," she said walking towards her room.

"Good night Camila. Sweet dreams," I smiled at her and I swore I could've seen her face turn pink, but it was bad lighting.

"Goodnight Lauren," she ended, walking back into her room and shutting her door.

I stood in my own doorway for a couple seconds longer, staring at her and smirked before I ducked into my room as well.

---------------------- The next morning -----------------------

Camila's POV

I woke up with to sun hitting my eyes and flowing calmly on the top of my bed like I was in a river of warmth.

I was too comfortable and didn't want to get up. I'm not really a morning person and that's partially why I chose classes that started later in the day at college.

I knew I should probably get up however. Lauren might need my help. At the thought of Lauren, my mind went back into a calm state.

I shifted in my bed trying to wake up the rest of my body in preparation for getting up. I turned around and noticed there was a piece of paper on my nightstand.

I picked it up and read what was written on the inside.

"Camila,

I wrote you this note to tell you that I had to get up early this morning to tend to the cattle. They get cranky when it gets too hot. No rush however, I made you some pancakes and bacon which are in the kitchen, so just come down whenever you're ready (just heat it up if it's cold). I might be working in the field when you come down so you have the house to yourself for a bit. Later, we can go into town.

P.S. If the food is gone from your plate, that means Tucker was hungrier than you this morning."

"Who's Tucker?" I quietly said to myself.

I decided to find out. I slipped on some comfortable clothes, got ready in the bathroom, and walked downstairs.

I looked around the kitchen and as guessed, I didn't see any sign of Lauren. My eyes then feel on the plate of food Lauren had left me sitting on the kitchen counter top. I smiled and walked over to it. Everything was there, three strips of bacon and two stacked pancakes.

I checked to see if they were still warm, which they weren't, so I walked over to the microwave and heated it up. After I began eating, I noticed a kennel in the corner of the room I hadn't last night.

"Maybe Tucker is Lauren's dog," I wondered.

I got up from the table and walked over to the kennel. I noticed some squeaker toys laying on the top and decided to pick up the one shaped like a flower. Maybe if I squeak it, the dog will come.

I pinched down on the toy and as soon as the high-pitched sound emitted from the object, I heard a jingle in the distance. Then stumbled footings coming quickly down the stairs. Before I knew it, a medium-sized yellow and white dog was standing right in front of me. He looked just as confused as me and I could tell when he tilted his head to the side and perked up is ears.

"Hi buddy, I'm Camila," I said kneeling down to get at his level.

He didn't move so I stuck out the toy in my hand, his eyes landing on it. He looked conflicted. He slowly approached me and sniffed the toy then my hand. I set down the toy and went to pet him, which he let me do. As soon as I stopped stroking his fur, he looked up at me and nudged me to continue.

"So I guess you do like me," I said looking at him.

Once I felt I was on his good side now I sat back down at the table and finished eating while Tucker begged. He didn't mind eating some parts of bacon I ripped off for him.

I got up and put my plate in the dishes. Walking over to the big kitchen window, I could see the big open space, barn, and sun high up in the sky. I could get used to this view.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Lauren over by the side of the house washing some buckets. Her hair up in a messy bun, dirty jean shorts, and a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. Somehow she still looked good and I knew if I was working that hard, it would be impossible for me to.

I walked out onto the porch to get a better view of the valley but my eyes kept shifting to Lauren as she looked so focused with her eyebrows closer together and face tensed. She stoop up and lifted her hat a little bit to wipe away the sweat underneath. I just stood there staring until I was pushed to the side as Tucker bolted outside, down the steps, and to Lauren.

She saw him coming near her and bent back down to pet him. He licked her face and she enjoyed it. She was so caring and adorable, I'm glad I was picked to live here for the summer.

All of a sudden I was stopped from my thoughts when I noticed a pair of sparkling green eyes looking back at me. Oh god how long was I staring at her. I wiped the small smile I didn't realize I had off my face. She waved at me and smiled, never giving me a reason to feel uncomfortable.

I waved back and walked down the steps and towards her.
