Prologue

Chloe Hosterman was the new kid in town 10 years ago, 6 years old and alone, no friends, no nothing, her dad was dead and her mum couldn't give two shits about her, everything in her life was going wrong....until she met Ryan

Ryan McCartan was born and raised all in this town, a year older than Chloe but that didn't matter to either of them, they quickly became best friends and that was the way it stayed

Until when Chloe was about 15

She fell into a party lifestyle, the once straight A student started slipping, then she met Jared, the most popular guy in school, also the biggest asshole this town had going, unfortunately Chloe didn't realise that at the time, she thought they were high school sweethearts and to start with they were

Then he started pulling her away from her best friend, and everyone else, she was rarely with her family, he'd make her get drunk and high a lot, then he got more physical, much more physical than she wanted, but she couldn't say no, at least she felt like she couldn't

Then one night at a party she saw her best friend...or her old best friend, they'd barely talked in months, now 17 years old, Chloe missed her old life

She knew she'd be in trouble if Jared found out, he'd hit her and then he'd do other things....things she couldn't and wouldn't talk about, but she didn't care, she missed her best friend

Or was it more than that?

She pulled Ryan away when Jared was busy flirting with some other girl she didn't even recognise, wouldn't be the first time he'd cheated on her, wouldn't be the last either so she didn't give a shit

They found themselves in a bedroom, she hadn't intended this but the guy she'd had a crush on since she was 6 was stood right in front of her

She kissed him and she liked it, she probably just ruined everything but she didn't give a shit anymore

Little did she know all the years he'd been in love with her, he was a hot senior, a major jock, he could've had any girl he wanted but he'd always been watching and waiting, hoping there'd come a time when he could make his move

That night he did and she finally felt free...until the happiest night of her life turned to ashes, everything fell apart

That party had been to celebrate the start of summer and Jared was being forced to go away with his family for three weeks

Those three weeks Chloe was with Ryan every day, they finally had each other back but now it was more, so much more, but then she found out something that changed everything

The next day Chloe Hosterman had disappeared, her mum didn't care so the police stopped trying but how could Ryan let her go? What had happened to her? Where had she gone? He had to find out

She'd left only two things behind her a letter saying goodbye and one other thing.....
