Ryan's POV
I knew I had to do something, I had to go there and see if that was where she was but I couldn't go alone, I had to have people with me, this wasn't just a one person job
And there were other people who deserved to be there if we did find her
The next day I called my two best friends, Brian and Colton and asked them to meet me at the park by my house
Then to call someone I hadn't spoken to in six months
This could be fun
"What the fuck are you doing calling me you asshole" Veronica spoke angrily down the phone to me
"V please just hear me out, is about Chloe" I explain hurriedly, worried she'd just hang up on me
Veronica was Chloe's best friend other than me from the day she started school here to the days eh went missing
Like with me, Chloe was being pulled away from Veronica, but they still talked a lot and hung out when they could whereas Chloe and I just fell apart
"What about her?" She asked, not if caught her curiosity
"Come to the park by my house in 20 minutes and I'll explain everything, V I might have a way to find her" I told her quickly
"Okay, I'll be there, but I swear to god Ryan if this is some sort of sick joke I will fucking kill you" she spoke aggressively and I full well believed she would
"I promise it isn't" I swore
"Okay, I'll see you in 20" she told me quickly and then hung up
We used to be pretty close too, even closer when Chloe disappeared, platonically of course, but then I fucked it up
*flahsback*
"Ryan you're not seriously suggesting I don't care that she's been MISSING FOR SIX MONTHS!" Veronica yelled at me after I said something I shouldn't have
"You want to throw in the towel and give up on her!" I replied defensively
"I DID NOT SAY THAT" she yelled angrily
"No but you might as well have!" I responded rather nastily
"How dare you, YOU TWO HAD BARELY SPOKEN IN YEARS! ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU END UP IN THIS WHIRLWIND RELATIONSHIP AND YOU THINK THAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO DICTATE HOW WE ALL DEAL WITH THIS? WELL GUESS WHAT IT FUCKING DOESNT!" She screamed at me, and she was right, I was so far out of line it was disgusting
*flashback ends*
She stormed out after that and we have barely said a word to each other in the six months since
I arrived at the park to find Colton and Brian already there waiting for me
"What's going on dude? Your text sounded urgent to say the least" Colton asked nervously
"Hold on, we're waiting for one more, I'll explain everything once she's here" I told them
"She who?" Brian asked in confusion
"Veronica" I told them and then a minute later she walked into the prt
"Spill it and fast before I just punch you square in the face you jerk" she spoke harshly but I did deserve it so I just ignored it
I got out my phone and showed them a picture I'd taken of the address on the paper
"What the fuck is that?" Veronica asked me annoyedly
"That was what was written on the inside of the paper doll I found in Chloe's room when she went missing" I told her
"And?" She replied, clearly uninterested
"This is a New York address, her dad was from New York remember, what if she went to New York?" I suggest
"So you think Chloe ran off to New York?" Colton asks me
"Yeah, I do" I reply
"What do we do?" Brian asked
"We've gotta go and see if she's there, she might not be, this might be a total hoax but what if it's not? What if this is actually where she is, it's worth a shot" I explained/suggested
"I'm in" Colton said immediately
"Same" Brian agreed
We all turned to Veronica who was clearly thinking it over carefully
"This could be ancient, or it could be totally irrelevant, it's been a year, it's probably not right" she starts and we all let our hearts sink a little bit she wasn't done "but she could be there, and if there's even a tiny chance we need to go find out, even if she isn't there, none of us would ever be able to be at peace with this without checking it out" she finished
"So you're in?" I ask her for confirmation
"Duh" she replied
"We leave tonight" I tell them
"Why tonight?" Veronica asked
"Because we need to get some stuff ready first, we can't just suddenly go off to New York" I pointed out
"True" Colton replied
"Okay everyone meet at my house tonight at 10, the traffic will have died down by then, make our drive easier" I told them
They all agree and then we all went our separate ways
