Chapter 1

Ryan's POV

I woke up at like 11am, Chloe was supposed to come over at 12, I took a quick shower, got dressed and looked at the clock, it was just before half past

I texted her and waited for a reply, after 15 minutes with no reply I started to get a little concerned, Jared was supposed to come back tomorrow, what if he'd come back early to keep her on her toes or if she's freaked out

I promised her I'd protect her but she's really afraid of him or what he might do, more to me than to her which is stupid, I can defend myself, she can't, she's tiny and innocent....well she was innocent until he happened to her

But either way she can't defend herself, I've seen the bruises and the scars, he'd done a number on her the night before the party, she was covered in bruises where people couldn't see and when she took off her makeup the day after she had a really bad black eye, he was abusing her to breaking point

I've loved her for so many years and when I finally get her she's someone else's and can't get away from him? How is that fair? I knew I shouldn't have waited, I should've told how I felt years ago, I've known long enough

I kept fretting over this and by the time o looked at the clock it was 5 past 12

And then it all started flashing back to me, shed seemed fine last night we were texting and then she said disappeared for ages, then I got a random message saying "I love you" and then nothing

I didn't think it was weird at the time I figured she was just busy or she'd sent t earlier and it hadn't gone through until then and had probably gone to bed, she had been really tired all day so I was happy she was sleeping but now I'm not so sure

"She probably just overslept" my mom suggested as she placed her hand on my shoulder, was it really that obvious?

"That obvious huh?" I asked in reply

"It's barely gone 12 and you've been glaring at that clock for every second of it" she replied with a soft smile, I smiled back, she probably just overslept and missed her alarm or something

"You're probably right" I nod in agreement

"Give her ten more minutes and if she's not here then you could always just go over there and check on her" my mom suggested

I nodded and sat down, trying not to get too anxious

But ten minutes later she wasn't here and I just couldn't wait any longer, I put on my shoes, grabbed my wallet and keys and was out the door as quick as I could

She only lived across the road so I just had to cross the road and I was there

I knocked a couple of times but I there was no response, now I was really getting worried

I knocked harder and a couple of times but nothing so I used the spare key hidden under the plant pot by the front door

I walked in the door and looked around a little but no sign of Chloe

"Chlo?! Chloe?!" I yelled at the top of my voice but no reply

I looked around a try and find any trace of her but I could find none

"Chloe?!" I called out one last time but I was met with no reply
